Been out of the cycling loop for a few years and it really seems things have moved along, dropper posts, maxles etc etc. What would you say was your best bike realted purchase of recent times, can be components, kit, bikes themselves. Really want to know why as well. Can be as nichery, fatbikery, 29ery or be as simple as a new pair of spokey dokeys.

Mine is some new gear cables btw!

Second hand Hemlock frame. Good lord that thing is fun to ride.

Closely followed by a Reverb, which makes it even easier to have fun 😀

I have a few....

Big Pedals - much bigger and lighter than the ones they replaced.
Wide Bars - stopped at 745 at the moment feel great.
Dropper Post - such a great thing.
fully enclosed cables - can't believe every bike doesn't come with these.
Hope matchmakers - bars were getting very cluttered 3 clamps on one side, fitted straight on my formula brakes too!

bike feels so good now.

Dropper post with remote without doubt. Totally transforms some parts of a ride.

+1 (well, a big estate car and petrol anyway)

Reverbs, 10 speed, chain devices, new forks, etc are all good, but they don't really change the fact your riding a bike and that's the fun bit. Infact there's a definate correlation betweent he ammount my bikes get used and their frequency of upgrades. I was off the bikes for ~3months with a badly broken arm, and in that time it sprouted new forks, new brakes and a chain device. And I bought another bike as well!

Probably a dropper post but a 130mm Kona hardtail is beating all the bad habits and sloppy riding out of me.

A 9 month old, barely used P-X Uncle John. Full bike for £250. Raced my first cross season on it last winter.

Otherwise, I have enjoyed selling spare bike stuff. Am aiming to reduce, rather than acquire..!

Being trying not to spend too much money but in the last few months;

- Wider bars (but not stupid wide) 711mm Easton Havens
- Changing dropper post to a remote version
- DMR Vault pedals
- Bionicon C-Guide v0.2 chain guide

Staitline silent guide, simple, quiet, does what it says on the tin.
XT SPD trail pedals, after years of riding flat pedals its a bit of a revelation how much I prefer blasting my local trails clipped in!!!

Probably my entry to the Mega.

Or as a general - a trail bike, from a DH only background before I missed out for far too long 🙁

my girlfriends road bike - it's nicer than mine and (probably as a consequence) she's very keen to use it.

i've spunked so much money over the past year on bike parts.

the Boardman FS for the GF at 850 quid was a good buy.

as too was the mini Lezyne stand pump...

oh, and the coil u-turn kit for my Lyrik.

and my Evoc rucksack is a nice bit of kit.

oh, and new bite valves for my camelbak bladders. no more wet leg.
