Broke a chain today and on further inspection there's a dozen cracks in the chain plates. It's a new X1 chain with about 20 miles on it.Is this a known fault with sram chains? ?

Its a known issue with fake chains. Did yours come in a legitimate box?

That'd be going back to Wiggle.

Wow thats certainly a new one. Dont suppose you changed the chainring at the same time? Or maybe some other factor as thats pretty weird.

I had the same issue with my GX eagle chain. But it had done more miles. Woke me up nicely as I flew forward when it snapped! Fitted a 12speed KMC chain and it’s been good as gold since

Happened to me on a week old chain. Only one link though. It came in genuine looking packaging but was from an eBay seller I’d never used before. It was a uk bricks and mortar shop though.

SRAM - says it all when it comes to dodgy chains, but I thought it was just we singlespeeders who had the problem.

Do they actually make chain, or do they outsource to the cheapest supplier?

Casual conversation with staff at a BIG bike shop a few weeks back: I USE KMC CHAINS. This after breaking Shim/SRAM chains. Nuff said. Never had issues with Big S's myself.

had xx1 chains without any issues. bought a comparable kmc chain and it snapped twice for no apparent reason. went back to xx1 chains and never had an issue since.

6 month old SRAM 11sp broke on me at the weekend. First time I've ever had a chain break like that. Used KMC on previous bike. I think I'll go back to that.
SRAM PC1110 snapped

Except it doesn’t. E.g. my experience of SRAM chains is great, OTOH I’ve had loads of Shimano issues
