Fitting a Surly Pugsley on a car is tough. But just wanna share what I have learnt.

The wheel holding gutters on the Thule rack are too narrow for these tyres. I found the front wheel had twisted round and the whole rig was threatening to bail out and launch itself down the A30 at 70mph. So a tube was used to tie the wheels to the rack, and the front wheel to the frame. This stopped the twisting.

You may also notice the graphics are looking a somewhat missing. I left it out on a damned windy night, chained to the caravan. The wind and sand took almost all the graphics off one side.

Please note that this is not self promotion, this is someone sharing advice for the greater good of mankind. Old innertubes can be found in all good and bad bike shops, and many camelbaks too. Please leave your high horse at the door.

That is a salsa Nickless Cage (as in Nicholas Cage... geggit?). Its justa regular bottle cage that is very happy with a bottle of racing merlot. Available in some good bike shops.

Here is a top tip...just carry an old 135mm rear wheel of any description for transporting

I just use a piece of velcro strip to hold down the back

I simply bought a Transit to sort the transport issue 🙂
