Canyon Dude - 2nd hand purchase in the summer, now needs some grippy winter boots.
I'd been told it was running tubeless but hadn't bothered to check. Popped them off and....what the hell! A sort of membrane/hymen like 'skin' between the tyre beads. Super thin latex - that obviously I managed to puncture taking them off because I'm a dick (and to be fair didn't know it was there so went in a bit hot).
I suspect this is as it left the factory as they are the same tyre model that came on the bike new. But what is it - some sort of factory fit nice and clean tubeless setup or some sort of new fandangled clever tubeless 'thing' the cool kids use? Whatever, it's bolloxed up now so getting the gorilla tape and gizz treatment.
Fatty Strippers - an expensive solution for a problem I’ve never encountered
Fatbike tyres are generally harder to seat and setup then regular mtb tyres.
Fatty strippers help.
You can get more or set them up 'ghetto tubeless' which involves putting a tube on, cutting it down the middle, opening the tube out and seating the tyre on it, to give the same effect as the strippers.
This is how I did it on my Dune and it's absolutely bomb proof.
You don't need that edging foam in the video but putting some foam in the well of the wheel helps a lot to stop the tube falling into the well as you're working.
If it falls in you'll probably find it comes out from under the tyre bead and you'll lose your seal.
Fatty Strippers – an expensive (and now totally booked by a cack handed oaf) solution for a problem I’ve never encountered
Oh, that's a thing I'd never heard of. Can't see it available other than in the state's....so even more expensive!
Fatty stripper....like my original post needed any more double entendre!
How is it stuck to the tyre?

It'll be old sealant.
It’ll be old sealant.
Maybe, but a quick look through the 'inspection hatch' I put in it, reveals an immaculately clean inner wall without hint of sealant....
Set up my fatty the ghetto way....over the last 6 months I've never lost any air
I always use fatty strippers and the foam mat method setting up my fatbike tyres.
Very easy way to get baggy tyres to catch and sit on the bead, on single wall rims. They are generally single use though, unless you're lucky or very careful.
Didn’t someone sell you some lovely Nextie tubeless rims @convert?
Did they die?
They did indeed!
And no, they are still going strong thanks. But, I decided the On one frame was just a bit too short for me. Ridable, but short. The Canyon came up locally and I caved and bought it. Sadly the nextie rim hubs are not compatible.
Got to make a decision about what to do with your my On One fatty and the lovely Nextie rims. At the moment its a spare for friends, but it deserves more than that (especially as its now got a 1X11 drive train).
Well from my point of view deciding it’s a bit short is one of the better reasons to have another fat bike - at least I didn’t sell you something that instantly disintegrated.
The hubs came from a set of OnOne wheels which were about the same weight as a tractor wheel. I junked the rims and spikes and kept the hubs. It transformed the bike.
If the spoke count matches it might be worth considering swapping the rims and hubs to put the Nextie rims on the Canyon.

I did think that - but being a tart, they'd have to be resprayed black or orange to match!

I've found if [s] neglected[/s] allowed to work fine for long enough, when you take the tyre off eventually it's very dry in there and the dried out sealant has stuck the tyre to the rim or whatever. Not much sign of healthy sealant and dry.
You can lose your sealant over time from many micro seals without knowing it if you don't change tyres as often as your pants and they carry on working trouble free.
You should top up every now and then of course but meh, life.
