I have a Spesh Fatboy; I really like it but I want to put a Bluto on it. Due to not thinking ahead, I got one with a 135 QR front wheel.
The Fatboy has a distinctive rim; I like the look of them and they are strong and (fairly) light.
I've asked all the LBS's around here, and some of the usual suspects on the interweb, but no-one wants to take on putting my rim on a Hope Fatsno hub.
I nearly went down the route of buying a set of DT Swiss BR2250 from Germany, I could have got a pair for 400 euro. But I was waiting for another shop to get back to me and now they've gone back up.
Who would be prepared to take on an apparently thankless task of making a big fat wheel for me?
Or shall I just buy the Canyon Dude?
I did exactly this, had my spesh rim but onto a hope pro 4 so I can run blutos. It was done by perfect balance cycles in Totton, southampton. He's a bit of an expert in fatbike wheel building and has done some pretty weird offset builds for moonys and the odd double holed robsson rims too for our bunch of fatbikes.
Don't know why any other lbs wouldn't do yours though, it's not that unusual.
Maybe what your LBS isn't telling you is that he doesn't a wheel jig big enough to accept your hub? There's nothing intrinsically difficult about building a fat bike wheel - find yourself another bike shop...

Possibly. Or they haven't done one and don't want to experiment.
Whatever, they aren't keen to take the job on.
40mpg's experience is just what I'm after, just a bit further north...
I've built a couple of fatty wheels lately and Iv'e found them easier to build than "standard" wheels.

Hmm. Shoddy service/poor mechanics there.
If it's got an offset drilling it's a bit of a faff to work the spoke lengths out but otherwise it's just a wheel build.
I can do it for you.

A standard Park TS2 will take a 150mm axle easily. I've just built one on mine.
Richard's Cycles in Perth have the kit to build fat bike wheels.
Built that exact wheel last week, not a problem at all was pretty easy build. Bit of research then do it yourself.
I'd be happy to, but I'm in Leicestershire!
There are some very generous offers and tips up there. Anyone within 30 miles of Manchester?
Big Al at Garage Bikes in Morley.
He's built several fat and plus wheels for me over the last few years, all without issue.
