normal tyres I use are schwalbe marathon. bombproof but slow.
current bike has clement mso things on. rear is bald after 1000 miles so wont be using them again.
so ideas appreciated.
Road or offroad? Just did Wales route 8 on Gravel King SKs 38mm. Set up tubeless they rolled surprisingly well on tarmac. Great offroad/gravel.
Alternatively, I commuted on Marathon Supreme 35mm for years. Almost as puncture resistant as regular marathons but way lighter & faster.
I've been using Vittoria Hypers from PlanetX for a while, super fast come in 38mm and pretty puncture resistant. And cheap!
As above - Marathon Supreme or Vittoria Hypers. Bang for buck definitely the Hypers.
I crossed the USA with only one puncture on Marathon Supremes. The Marathons may be longer lasting 5mm of rubber to wear away versus 3.3mm for the Hyper. Hypers slightly lower rolling resistance.

I'd find the extra cost for Marathon Supremes unjustifiable unless for a long tour where I wanted to be sure the rear lasted the whole way.

This guy knows what he's taking about! I second this. Have these on a couple of bikes and they are surprisingly awesome. 38mm and weirdly fast.
The Hypers are fast and light partly because there's not much rubber on them, so they wear relatively quickly, then you're on a one-way ride to Puncture Town.
Marathon Supremes would be my choice, especially in larger sizes, think you can get them up to 700/29er x 2.0
Last time round I went for some Rivendell Jack Brown blues from OnOne, becuase they were cheap and 33.3c is about as big as I can go in the back.
Edit: supremes are £35 v £15, so Supremes need a bit of justification if you want a size you can get in both. Chucking away less stuff, needing to last long tours as above might do that for you.
What size can you go to? How about Conti Race Kings?
Good enough on road, capable enough off road certainly for touring type use.
Hypers are great. I've used them for commuting for years.
Yip, hypers.
