I grew up about half a mile up the hill from that bridge - spent many hours messing about down there.
I should really know this, but what's the bit like that goes north-ish off the top, the first descent on your route. I heard there was another dh type track over that way but never really explored since I started biking again.
Nice grassy trails there sfb; are all the trails self-cleaning down your way? Textbook examples of dressing to the conditions too. Most of our moisture further north was under-wheel / over-back, with cold clear skies.. Take our very own Kit here, for e.g.

(p.s. spot the schoolboy error!)

You haven't seen the pics of SFB in his shorts and fingerless gloves yet then?! 😉
He looks pretty well prepared to me! (+ Johnsons baby-oil doesn't show up on photos..)

the map doesn't give it a name. It's in 2 parts, the top is grassy and fast with a few jumos, then you have to turn sharp left for a steep grassy bank to join the lower section, which is grass on limestone, very off camber and with spiky bushes encroaching on both sides (exciting/scary depending on your temperament:). There is a DH track the local lads have made that drops to the lower gate on Puddlemire Lane, but the landowner did ask us nicely to stick to the established tracks (the only right of way is the bridleway to Holme Park Farm)
