They have been all over ebay for a few years now either listed as real or OEM sure they are fake but can they be trusted?

Why someone would go to the trouble of counterfeiting Bontrager will puzzle me to my grave.

Well in a bizarre twist my genuine Bontrager post recently snapped, my cheap eBay probably fake one that I inherited hasn't and has survived a crash that terminally damaged some genuine bars.

Anecdote only though, make your own mind up

As long as there are suckers thinking they're getting a bargain by buying fake shit, people will keep making fake shit to sell to those suckers.

Really whats so puzzling ?

Bontrager = Trek = $$$$$$$

or are you one of those elitist types that believes because its a mainstream brand that everything they make is mediocre and sub par ?

I have one, not from eBay, seems very good quality and its on a ss so rarely gets sat on.

Looks nice and hopefully annoys people.

I had a set of fake RXL bars that cracked after 3 months, got a full refund from ebay seller. Thankfully they did fail completely.....but could have.

I bought a xxx lite tribute seatpost 2nd hand at a bike jumble a couple of years ago and it's still going strong. No qualms at all and a good spend of £12.50.

I have a fake ritchey post. It's not broken but it looks cack and you can tell that it's not exactly been made with care. Replaced with a superstar carbon, far superior and not really a lot more if you buy one when they're on sale.

I've got one on my road bike, paid £13 for it if I remember....
Really light, really well finished, does the job nicely. Looks like the real deal. Really thin walls which gets thicker at the front and back internally to add more strength.
But....
Mine is cracked. I used a torque wrench based on the clamp values (for a light carbon pz racing clamp) and when I removed the seatpost to put it in a car boot a while back, noticed a crack running vertically, right at the back of the seatpost at the same level as where the clamp goes.

But then again, a year on with the crack and it still hasn't shattered into a million pieces 😀

Happy with it on a road bike. I wouldnt put it on my mountainbike though

I bought a Bontrager x-lite carbon bottle cage off a "UK" seller on eBay. Of course it shipped from China and when it arrived it was very much a lookalikey bottle cage.

Too small to fit a bottle in FFS !!!
You buy cheap, you buy twice as they say.
