After some weeks of searching for a bike for gravel, bike-packing and some commuting duties I've manage to snag a Fairlight Faran. Picking this up at the weekend:

Pretty, no? đŸ™‚

Just curious if there are other owners on here. Interested if any of you have fitted racks and guards and if so, which?

Surely I can't have out-niched STW?

I'm pretty sure that there was a smart looking one in the Classifieds a few weeks back but the advertisement seems to have expired.

Looks lovely by the way!

-- Edit --

I may have gotten that wrong, it could have been a Secan.

6ft 1 and lanky đŸ™‚

It's a 57, but a T, which is more upright and ideal for old codgers with back injury and no flexibility đŸ™‚

Jeebus, and those bars are still lower than the bars on my road bike!

There is a fairlight owner on here. I'm not going to out him, he's probably working on his turbo buns.

ha - just got to bar in the hotel and saw the title, with 7 replies, and thought, jeez how cool is STW, a number of peeps have that Fairlight synth from the early 80's, imagine my disappoint đŸ™‚ STW is still cool though ...

I thought the same...
Had a tinker with one a couple of years back. Lets just say that things have moved on...

I know the one of which Jimmy speaks, his bike inspired me to get a Faran.

Or, it would have if you could actually buy one. Which for some reason, they won't let you. And you can't just buy a Secan either. So I got something else instead. That might be why they're so niche.

The new models look lovely and I'm sorely tempted to get a pre-order in.

Sorry for the delay. I was indeed working on my turbo buns as Jimmy suspected.
I have a Secan, one of the first and it's just fantastic.
I set up a Facebook group called Fairlight Riders and you would be made most welcome. It's full of people with heaps of experience.

Good buy btw. Enjoy it.
