So I'm a member of a number of MTB Facebook groups. On one of them, a general UK wide MTB group, there are semi regular posts with people looking for items second hand with really vague descriptions.
Examples off the top of my head are...
- WTD FS mountain bike
- WTD Suspension forks
- WTD Matching set of hope brakes, wheels, stems and cranks
I know it's my problem and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but do people really think they're gonna get what they want without specifics?
Like what size frame, what wheel size, what style of bike/riding and so forth. And the last one good luck, turns out the guy wants Tech 4 brakes second hand!
Time to stop following that group - or better, log off Facebook. Try it for a week / month, its peaceful.
Sometimes that is what people want. Not everyone wants a 2021 Pike with 41mm offset, 2.1 RCT damper and 140mm C1 air spring, they just want a suspension fork. I admit wheel size is useful but there will be people out there that don't know what wheel size they have or even that there are different sizes let alone that axle standards keep changing.
Maybe they are after the sort of adverts where people say "Bike for sale wiv hydrolic breaks" and there's a blurry picture of a bit of a bike in someones bedroom surround by piles of dirty clothes.
