Does anyone make something to cover your cheeks etc when riding?

I've grown a beard but it's just not cutting it. IIRC Briko used to do one...presume something in windstopper exists with holes for breathing etc?

Gore do one that looks exactly like druidh's gimp mask, except cut off above the nose. It's a bit rubbish IMHO. I guess it's more a roadie item, as I found the fit to be quite annoying when using it on the mountain bike. On the plus side, it does terrify old ladies and get you laughed at by young people.

EDIT: this one:
[img] [/img]

When wearing it with a skull cap, you'd be better off with a balaclava.

Can you get balaclavas in windstopper with breathing holes?

Edit:

this one seems to do the nose hole better;

Cheers wasnotwas

It's for road riding BTW, I ride pretty fast so the wind chill can be lethal.

I'm pretty sure that Gore also do one of those. I just couldn't find one when I bought my gimp mask.

Alternatively (made out of proper gimpy rubber too):

I got a dhb one for £8 from wiggle, so far apart from the odd feeling of something so close fitting it's been great on the commute to work, at that price it was worth a gamble.

I just wear a combi buff - fleece at the bottom around my neck, think buff over the face.

But it has to be properly cold or I'm ill to wear it over my mouth/nose - as in colder than minus 5.

anyone got one of these? £10 for a merino balaclava seems good, thinking of one myself.

It'll not get used much for sure, but staying warm makes al a happy camper on his road rides.

I use 2 buff's, one round the neck and over my cheeks, and the other on my head pulled down to cover my ears.

Al i have a neoprene face mask made by Scott USA who make motorcycle goggles and stuff...Oh and mtbs!
It has a velcro fastening at the back...its ace, covers cheeks and tested last winter to -20C 😮
here it is 😉 i took a pic for the blog...
[img] [/img]

found a link but there out of stock... here

Try Eclipse motorcycles at Tranent (Elphinstone road) they were who im sure i bought it from years ago 😮
i cut a small circle out at the mouth vents and its perfect now, dosnt build up condensation like a buff and looks better than TJs proposed gimp mask

I've got this and its ace. So warm I only use it the coldest of cold (which for Devon i suppose is like about all of december and january for you scotchlanders). Front half of the balaclava itself is windproof too. Only thing is the front masky bit isn't quite high/wide enough to go over my lantern jaw and muighty French hooter.

The Gore Hannibal Lector is pretty good.
My issue with it is, wear it over the helmet straps for easy removal when you warm up, but it doesn't stay in place. Put it under the straps for a secure fit, but then you have to stop and undo helmet to take it off.

I love it though, just the job for getting going before you warm up fully.

Eth3er - you have to post up a link where to buy that beanie!!

Can't seem to find that particular one on the urban jacks site, is from a different website?
