Looks like he's doing about 80kmh which is about 50mph!

I used to do that on the link road from Heysham in towards Lancaster. Get behind a heavily loaded truck and it'd accelerate slowly enough for me to stay behind it. Long straight road, no junctions or lights so very little chance of it braking heavily. I've had speeds of 56mph behind them but at that speed you're spinning out 53:12 and the buffeting you get when you lose touch with the lorry can be really quite severe. If you can stay with it as it winds down slowly then it's OK.

My dad used to do the same - in his late teens, heading to work, in the days when the conductor stood on the open platform at the back....
Every morning, Hollinwood to the outskirts of Manchester...
One day he took his eye off the ball - bus stopped, dad did not, until he hit the bus - fortunately not going to fast... Conductor laughed, picked him up, checked him over said 'You won't do that again, will you son?' and off the bus went, leaving dad with a rather buckled front wheel (this was in the days before Pringles 😉 ) and a dent in his pride.... 🙂
