I need to get one ordered - I see there are some which are like a socket set tool and then the large flat ring spanner type.
Any preference?
Any provided you only do it up hand tight
I've had a couple of bikes where the chainstay got in the way of the ring spanner type, so now have a socket type tool made by X Tools.
Hicksy +1, ended up dismantling the rear end on a kona, to change the BB!
Though a C shaped BB spanner would probably have worked too.
Thanks chaps
Agree with the X tools one, even better if you have a socket bar that fits it
I've a Fatspanner socket type one and really like it, it also has flats on it for a normal spanner as well and in the centre of the bb part it has a part for removing the plastic crank ring on HollowTech cranks.
I just bought a lezyne one - combination BB and cassette tool
Was thinking it'd save weight when I go on holiday but it's VERY solid and so pretty heavy. Still, don't think it'll fail anytime soon unless the alloy is shit.
If you happen to need both then I think it'd be a good solution
