I currently am using a Exxposure Diablo mk 8 on my handlebar for night riding  ( and a joystick on the helmet ) -  the problem is the burn time ,  the battery lasts around 1.5 hrs max.

Does anyone have any experience of using a back up battery to extend the burn time - ideally I want to get to around 3 hours - or am I wasting my time and really need to buy an alternative light ?

Thanks

H

I do exactly that with my Equinox. With the biggest booster battery they do I can extend a 1/2 hr (!) run time on full blast to 2.5 hrs at least. If I turn it down a touch it easily gets 3 plus hours.

The smallest one they do which is just bigger than an aa battery doubles the runtime.

Thanks,  which battery pack are you using -  they seem to make three alternative sizes -  didn't know if they are simply there to recharge a unit or extend the burn time while the unit is being used

I’ve got both the 3.1 and the 8.7 one.

The smaller one is good, nice & compact and as I said it doubles run time. The bigger one hasn’t got as good a mounting bracket but gives considerably more run time.

I would get in touch with Smudge at MTB Batteries and see whether he can refurb your light with new batteries ... Sure he does this sort of thing on a regular basis.

Thanks,  I will give him a call on Monday and get his advice  -  if it will solve the problem an external battery is far cheaper as an option -  the current Diablo is working fine ( the burn time is as advertised by exposure ) ;  I just want a longer burn time
