Are we expecting Exsposure to be dropping a Black Friday deal?!
Missed the Diablo that was cheap on CRC and was hoping to get a deal on some nice night candle light for trail riding

They have a few factory seconds on their outlet page and I got a maxxD with 1/3 off from SDJ last week. Depends how much you want off I guess.

I'll be surprised if you find them cheaper than this...

I seen that site with some good prices
The Diablo on Wiggle and CRC was 120 quid
When I tried to buy it it wasn’t allowing my wiggle+ next day delivery
Tried the next day and all sold out
Following day not even on the website

My Exposure light used to come off its mount all the time. I gave it away.

My mate's one did the same but he strapped it on.

My brother had a MaxxD that did the same. It came loose on a descent at Pitfichie causing him to crash. He hurled it into the heather. It's still there.

Christ, I've raced 24 hours with mine and they are rock solid. Even with a pretty hefty Reflex.

The very first one I had, which is 15 years old and lives on the commuter, had the bolt seize it had been on the bar so long and I snapped the bolt trying to remove it.

Exposure swapped it out at the next race with a new one no quibble (I only wanted a new bolt, the fitting was fine). That's the only one of my 4 that's had any problem.

Likewise, I've had no issues with mine over the past few years (Strada and now Six Pack). I did break one in a unplanned hug with a tree at speed, but that was fair enough really.

That's the first I've ever heard of folk losing exposure lights, even the cheap plastic helmet mount is bombproof.

15 years running Exposure lights. Never had a problem with a mount. I've probably had 30-40 different Exposure lights in that time - Everything from Flash/Flares up to the Reflex and Maxx-Ds along with most of their top end road offerings.

I've had two faults in that time and both have been repaired FoC.

I'm struggling to believe that tale of dodgy exposure mounts, especially  for 3 of you to suffer the same issue 🤔  Mine been rock steady, says lots about him tossing a £300 light away without contacting exposure where about in fikie was it tossed might go for a wander.

The Exposure system does require you to ensure the spring pin has positively clicked into place and sometimes if you have a cable in the area pressing against the light it can be a bit reluctant. But the positive click when in place is very obvious and then it's totally bomb proof.

Are you and your friends possibly a little bit 'special' when it comes to things mechanical?

The 'cheap plastic helmet mount' that costs 22 quid? I guess you mean 'cheap-feeling'.

But yes, generally I've found Exposure mounts reliable. The only issue I've had was with corrosion over about five or six years of heavy use stopping the pin in a handlebar QR mount from moving smoothly, which meant it didn't fully locate in the light mount, but that was a lot of grit, sweat, mud and rain. You can also often use a lanyard to stop the light going walkies if the mount does fail.

I've lost mine, I spoke to a bloke on their stand at ardrock and he said they had a batch of dodgy clamps. Contacted their support and a day or two later a new clamp + mounting plate appeared in the post. The new one is a better design with the handlebar mount bolt being accessible from the top rather than underneath.

Aye, cheap as in wee plastic mount, I've never looked at the price as despite using Exposure lights for 8 years, I've never had a failure.

I bought a new Toro last week... was disappointed the mount (and the second one I bought for the other bike) both rattle from new. On second use, the light failed 5km from home despite showing 43% charge left. Tried a few times to get it going again, changed programmes and from high to low... each time it came back for about 30 seconds before failing again. I’m not impressed and fear the retailer will offer a warranty replacement, rather than a refund

Yep, had an Exposure light hanging under the bars on my road bike for 5 years and never any hint of it looking like it might fall of - those mounts are rock solid.

The top bit pops out of the socket section if you smack a low-lying branch. If you don't have a light in it at the time, its quite easy to lose it, but yeah, hard to break, though I've chipped a bit out of one. But very definitely not cheap 🙁

Sheck - contact Exposure for technical advice? They were very transparent when I had issues with my Toro years ago. Still happily riding with it now.

I’ve also had lots of Exposure lights over the years and very few problems, all sorted very quickly.

Joystick (mk2 or 3) - bombproof, sold it on
Diablo (mk4) - bombproof, still use it regularly
Flash/flare - commuting. Threads can be fiddly and easy to cross thread, happened once and Exposure fixed/replaced. Back light is a bit hit and miss now, but they are over 10 years old. Been meaning to send them for service.
Red eye (very early one) - commuting, bombproof
Toro - bought last year, no issues
Sirius - bought last year. It did bounce out of it’s mount, but it was mounted upside down under my bike computer on the road bike and I hit a series of holes at >30mph. Light flew off and fell apart (I only just stayed on the bike). It was still on but the end had come off and the switch/battery/etc were all hanging out. I poked it all back together and it’s been fine ever since.
Blaze (mk2) bought 6 months ago, no issues

My only gripe is that I never quite know if I’m on daybright settings with the Sirius and Blaze. I bought them specifically for long (6+ hour) road rides as everything else I had only had 2-3 hours of run time. I must be getting it right though as they’ve not run out on me yet.

I realise the above makes me a fanboi, but giving or throwing them away seems a little extreme for something that could well have been user error, or resolved very quickly by the manufacturer.

Great lights great customer service, but then they should be at the price. As an alternative I also have a couple of MTB Batteries lights and they are also very good.

In 10 years of using Exposure lights I've never had an issue.

Recently replaced my 10 y/o Toro with a MaxxD from SDJ - and the Toro still held a 3-hour charge.

The MaxxD is immense.

Got an ancient 1200lumen MaxxD, which has just had a service and new charger for £20 including postage back from USE, so work out quite good value cost per ride.

It's funny. The last time I mentioned this I got the same response. I guess nobody else had the same experience.

My light use to pop off the little v-shaped clip mount if you went down anything too bumpy. In the end I stuck it with Araldite. The clamp also never fitted too well on tapered bars. One night, on a fast rocky descent, it spun round on the bars dazzling the guy behind me so HE fell off!

I did call Exposure. They told me to send the mount in and they'd send me another. I did but they didn't send me the replacement.

Now I use £15 AliExpress lights.

Used them for years, had a few probs but all sorted very quickly, and cheaply if out of warranty.

Emailed them today with a query about the display on my Maxx-D saying something weird. Got a reply within an hour and all sorted.

Same here. I find a wrap of Gorilla tape on the bars helps the clamp grip

We've done this one before and Exposure were, not surprisingly, highly rated.

I have 4 of their lights and all absolutely faultless; also bought carbon bar and seat post - again, faultless.

Had a query about helmet mount for a diablo; no dialogue or discussion just...here's a new one from us.

Not sure how any clamp would work trying to attach to a taper...

the mounts on my two Stradas have been fine but a mate has had problems with his coming loose.

The cleat screws into the aluminium body with a steel screw, so if the cleat develops any play, the softer threads on the body soon wear and strip. After that you can't keep the cleat solid, even with loctite.

Sounds like your mate has been a bit gibon fisted tbh, and stripped the threads himself.

I bought a mount adapter for go pro online not from Exposure. It was so poor fitting I was concerned it was a fake. I called exposure to explain and they posted a replacement free of charge. The replacement was perfect (was for a Fly 12).

Will be sending back my Strada Mk2 for a service and new switch, as after 10 years of faultless service, the clear rubber button has finally split.

Not sure how any clamp would work trying to attach to a taper

Giant make a mount specifically profiled for their carbon aero bars. Garmin on top and go pro underneath. I use a go pro to Joystick adaptor and mount the Joystick underneath. It’s been absolutely solid. Exposure now make a rubber mount for aero bars, but it’s nothing like as solid as the above, and only for Joystick diameter lights.

Upgraded my Mk9 MAXX-D (3 or 4 years old) and MK4 Diablo (many years old!) to the latest SixPack and Diablo MK 11. Both the old lights still hold almost all of their charge and have been faultless over 4 winters.

I prefer the new bar mount, esp the fixing from the top. Never had an issue with the old one tho. The helmet mount is definitely more snug on the Diablo that the old one. But the old one was pretty secure, although I lost the original short plastic screw which was a pain.

New lights are noticeably brighter. I wasn't intending replacing the diablo but the Sixpack made the old beam sort of disappear!

Both bought off Exposure outlet store. Had a couple of queries and the support was great.

He is definitely a gibbon but in this case he was an innocent primate. The key is that if the cleat starts to come loose i.e. the light develops any rotational movement, then you have to sort that asap.

I also did this to a Maxx D, sent it back to Exposure and they fitted the internals into a new body. I can't remember the exact cost but it was very reasonable
