[Closed] Exposure Trace - Secure?

I've been looking at a set of exposure trace lights as DLRs but I'm not convinced they're secure enough in their mounts for being bounced down paths on a gravel bike. Any experiences to set my mind at rest? It's either a play or those or the bontragers.

They're fine. It's what I use on and off road.

TraceR on my gravel bike gets shaken lots. I use the saddle rail mount in that helps?

@cupoftea - the switches on 2 of them and water (somehow) inside the body of a 3rd.

Mostly road commutes with full mudguards. Its a bit crap really because in terms of rear lights they're really bluddy good.

oh and for extra peace of mind for wobbling etc, I wrapped one of the Mrs hair bobbles round the light and clamp.

My Tracr has been fine, it started to play up once and I thought it was ****ed, however I left the cover off and it started charging and working fine for the last year. Now prob three years old.

Trace and TraceR here. No problem on gravel bike, they clip in very tightly.

I’ve had 10 of them over 4-5years and they’ve all been perfect. I’d suggest that the user above with the switch failures is simply pushing too hard and weakening the four solder joints that hold the switch. Admittedly exposure could place something to better support the switch, but for most it’s not a problem.

I currently have 7 Trace or TraceR lights and have sold 3 in the past year purely as I wanted the reakt functions.

I’ve never had one fail or fall from its mounts and they’ve been used in all weathers for multiple hours per week for years.

My Tracer wobbled on the seat post. I'm never worried about it falling out or off but it did rotate off-axis over the course of a ride. I made a 3D-printed mount to clip it to the saddle-rails and that's much more secure.

Frustrating in a way because the ten quid emergency backup light I got from Amazon has a more secure mount and it's still a quick-release rubber band. Also has a blue-and-red flashy and probably illegal strobe mode to discourage close passes.

I'm tempted to carry on with cheapo rears that I don't care about and just go for the Trace on the front for DLR. At least I'll see if it falls off.

Not got trace, but do have an old set of flash/flare which I've used for 1000s of commuting miles without issue. Also have a red-eye on my MTB, on a saddle mount, which gets bounced round Swinley once a week and has never fallen out.
