Exposure Support Cell Question

Looking at picking up the Exposure Support Cell to add more run time to my Diablo, I keep forgetting to toggle from High to Low to save battery... I do have a really simple question for those who own one: Do you start your ride with the support cell plugged in and the light will drain either the support cell or built in battery? or do you need to keep it in stowed until the built in battery goes flat and then plug it in?

From the start.

But also I don't ever actually use the actual Exposure single cell that I have since it merely extends the light life from utterly pisspoor to pisspoor.

I got smudge from mtbbatteries to build me a 4 cell support, which is great as it means my Equinox lasts a proper medium long ride.

Really good

Same here... from the start. It skews your run-time indicator a bit, but works well. Balances the helmet out a bit better too ime.

As above on both counts, from the start and get one from Smudge/MTB batteries. He'll make the cable a custom length to suit your needs. I had mine made long enough to pop the battery in a jersey pocket or bumbag.

Just to confirm, from the start, says so on the instructions. Also only plug it when your about to ride and unplug when you're finished to stop the light leaching the power.

MTB batteries didn't look to have anything listed and I wanted to mount the battery on the lid so went with Exposures own.

@thegeneralist is that a stealth ad?

@stanley do you mean the colour indicator LED on the back of the Diablo?

Just looking at the MTB Batteries site, I cant see a specific Exposure support cell proudct, may drop them an email seeing what they can offer. The 1.3 support cell is meant to double the diablo battery life.

Yes, the run time indicators go down at about half their normal rate.

Is there an advantage to using these instead of an ordinary power bank?

🙂 Nah, TBH I wouldn't waste my time putting it in an envelope. It probably is some use, but not convinced.

As for smudge's listings, he'll make what you want. Don't worry if it's listed or not.

Just sell your Diablo and get a decent light that lasts longer than an hour.

Thank you for the mentions peeps, as always much appreciated. 🙂

If you haven't already emailed me, please do and I will see what I can do for you. I removed the link as I was having trouble sourcing the leads & charger adapters required for these compatible batteries and could not always guarantee a custom build.

Thanks again peeps & happy biking

I use a £10 power bank and it works just fine.
