……. a better option for mounting a Maxx'd so it's not on the bars? My bars on the off road drop bar thingy taper very quickly to flat tops, so the amount of space for things like light mounts is limited.
I'm thinking one of these Exposure stem mounts is ideal, and I can run it upside down to get the light totally out of the way.
I'm running one of the stem mounts on my gravel bike. Seems decent to me.
Alternative is the Exposure gopro mount combined with a stem mount garmin connector with underslung gopro thingamy.
That's if you use a garmin too obvs.
I hit the mother of all potholes in the dark at full speed last week and no issues.
Exposure do a stem top cap mount too.
I have one on my mtb as I have Synchros Hixon bar/stem so it’s not round where you’d normally clamp the light.
Have one of the stem mounts on my gravel bike too.
I run the stem mount upside down on my road bike - works fine and is very neat with the light tucked away.
Quadlock with GoPro adapter and Exposure adapter as an alternative to the Garmin option above. (If you want to run a phone mount not a Garmin mount)
I do this on the gravel bike (that’s also a commuter bike when I commute)
Are the stem mounts solid? Thinking of getting one but slightly wary of any distracting up and down waggle.
Yes
The bontrager Blendr system works pretty well with a GoPro mount holding the light and a second mount to hold a computer / whatever. It needs a Blendr stem as well though which may be an issue.
