My Mk8 bought from here several years ago have done sterling service for many months of dark wet nights, however they now lose 20-30% capacity just sitting on the shelf for a week. Obvious solution is to charge up and then ride, but I think the run tine is also suffering.
Anyone on here actually done a DIY battery replacement?

Or is sending back to Exposure the best bet?
I am happy to solder and used to make my own lights and sell them to mates back around the time of the big hack.
But Exposure kind of nailed it and that was that.
Contact Exposure, get a returns number and send it back.
They did a battery replacement on a Sirius of mine a while back (FOC as it was still under warranty) and the service was excellent.
There is not way mine is under warranty, it must be 5/6 years old and used a lot.
It is worth contacting Exposure, even if out of warranty. I had a 5year old MaxxD that had problems with battery, charging port, some big dents to the shell and a cracked lens. All due to a hard life rather than manufacturing issues.
They will likely give you a quote to replace the battery, and may be able to do other things to refurbish or improve the unit at a very reasonable rate.
They may also offer a trade in scheme against new / ex demo units.
In the end I got mine repaired rather than replaced.
All in, a fantastic service and a company. Their products are great, and the support that they give both in aftersales and at bike events is excellent.
As above.
I've also had excellent service from Smudge at MTBatteries.
I sent a really old 6-pack that I bought second hand back to exposure, having contacted them and got a returns number. Quick turn around, new batteries and switch for minimal cost, cracking service. They’ll inspect and quote, so no nasty surprises.
Just returned my Toro for battery replacement £52 posted.
Ditto the above.
Exposure service is excellent, prices reasonable. I wouldn’t go DIY to save a few quid.
I bought a very cheap second-hand Diablo on here that wouldn’t hold a charge for long. Sent it to Exposure, only one cell needed replacing, cost me all of £18. Great service, too.
Exposure are brilliant, Matt is brilliant, new refurbished light is Brilliant.
What was required and how much please - may well need similar at some point
What was required - Well nothing I could have walked away having paid nothing - Nada. Matt confirmed my light had arrived, then gave me a detailed email two days later after testing that they could not really find anything much wrong and would I like it simply posted back.... or for £70 would I like the circuit board, the back plate(contact switch area) and the firmware all updated. Hell yes - take my money!. The very next day from me actually paying, well packaged, came back my light that appears to be better than the new one I got recently (well 2 years ago) It's charged up fine and works well. Good time of year to get your light checked out, being June.
What is fab is that the communication is from ONE person, who kind of holds your hand from first email to the company from their generic website enquiry page. The SAME person then tells you how to raise an order form (they want to know serial number from case) and then you post with return form. The SAME person then emails you really quickly to say XYZ about the light and does not up-sell. Yes, I took them up on the offer, but I need not have done and I thought £70 for a complete guts update after 5 years of weekly use in rain or shine was rather bargaintastic.
I cannot speak highly enough of the company and experience I had.
Just to add I contacted them when my 2010 maxx d had some issues and they fixed it for 20 quid with new electronics! Still getting over 2 hours battery life from it. Must have used very good batteries. Great company
