Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. My 3 year old, infrequently used Diablo every now and again just refuses to turn on. It does this fairly randomly, but seems to happen more regularly when there's long periods of no use (say a week or so). The odd thing is when I plug it in to charge, it seems to give it a kick up the arse and comes back to life again at the same amount of charge from last use. This suggests that it is holding its charge ok.

Anyone experienced this before I go moaning to exposure?

Thanks

Their customer service is awesome. Contact them and they'll do what they can, however old it is.

Probably a loose contact somewhere within the button. Mine (considerably older than yours) occasionally needs an extra press or a slight wiggle of the button to get it to change modes.

Anyone experienced this before I go moaning to exposure?

Don't moan to them. Just ask nicely if there's anything they can do, they'll give you a returns number and fix it for free or very cheap. Their customer service is legendary - although it might be less legendary if you go in all guns blazing complaining to them! 😉

Mine did something similar after 3 years of constant daily use

Spoke to Exposure who said to return it for inspection, had an email same day it arrived with them telling me what the issue was (cant remember what it was) they said it would be £15 to fix and return, they posted the light back out that same day and i got it back the following day, super service!

I keep meaning to send mine to them due to battery life. There was a long period where I didn't use nor charge it regularly and the battery life doesn't seem great even on lower settings.

Also, the LED showing power/charging, sometimes slowly pulses while  riding along with the light on.... what's that about?

Recently asked about getting a new battery installed in mine and was quoted £42 including return postage which seemed good!

Previously sent a tracer rear light in that stopped working and they fixed it FOC.

Once the light has been inspected and the issue diagnosed, we will email you with our findings and a quote for the repair and you can then decide how you would like to proceed. If a battery replacement is required 9which may not necessarily be the case) then this will cost £42.00 (including parts, labour, UK P&P and VAT) however we will not carry out any chargeable repairs without hearing from you first.

It is.

Previously sent a tracer rear light in that stopped working

All I had to do was email them and mine started working again!

Mine does exactly what you're describing.

I've got others, a Sirius, Joystick, 2 MaxxDs and a Sixpack which don't, but the Diablo does exactly that. It's been back to them but they couldn't find anything wrong🤷

May or may not be your problem.

Make sure you have the charger turned on before you plug it in to the lamp, same for unplug the connector before turning off the power otherwise the smart port can be be put in to the wrong mode if it doesn't see the charger detect it as being a charger.

I've had a Axis, Zenith and 2 Diablos. It's a rare occurrence but they've all done what you describe at some point. Plenty of charge, nothing wrong with the button, just won't turn on. Works perfectly the second it's plugged in and might not happen again for years, if ever. Most odd.

Does it have a clear plastic back? Push down on the plastic to pop it back in place. My race had worked out a bit stopping the button working correctly. It just popped back in easily.

Have a Diablo which must be 10 years old now, still works fine. The MaxxD started rattling, sent it back and had it back in a few days, all repaired and good to go again.

Send it back and they will put you right.

I had an issue with a Diablo bought in 2022, went back & forth a couple of times and turned out that the charger was faulty - they sent me the one they were using to test it, works fine now.

Also seems incompatible with some ancient Exposure charges I have, unsure why as they're all specced the same on their stickers.

I just called them.

Their customer service is second to none. I had an intermittent fault with my light (which was 6 years old) and they tested it, upgraded the firmware and sent it back FOC! I was amazed.

So a quick check of old emails and this was the issue with my Diablo

We have inspected and diagnosed the issue with your product. Unfortunately as this is not a warranty case the total costs for a repair would be:-

£17.00 (Price includes: Parts, Labour, P&P and VAT)

This is to repair a connection to the battery.

The light was 5 years old at this point
