To my eye, the exposure piggyback battery looks like it's just an 18650 in a plastic housing with the appropriate cable wired in.
As I need one, and have some 18650s spare, I was wondering whether I can just pop an 18650 in a battery case, attach a cable and go ride, rather than pay an inflated price for the pleasure of a slick plastic housing?

Or am I just being a tightwad?

I've got one I never use - you're welcome to it for a donation to the charity of your choice.

Just about all bike lights like Exposure etc... use 18650 battery's, there is no reason you cant make piggyback yourself.

Hi Murray,

That's a very generous offer - yes, I'd like to take you up on this. How about £15 donated to ... hmmm ... what's the helicopter rescue charity that was set up a while ago, I'll look them up and sort it out?

I'll drop you an email re details

Thanks Mark - very generous. I'll pop it in the post when I get the email. I'm away until Friday so there may be a short delay.
