Just replaced my mk4 axis with a mk9. The light runs for just under an hour until the first low battery flash and cycling down to mode 3 (6 hour life) manages to just about eek out 2.5 hours on the bike before a flash. Is that normal?

Not sure what gen mine is, but had it 3-4 years and it runs a lot better than that.

Cheers, I barely ever saw the mk4 flash in a good few years use, in fact only if I forgot to charge it.

The low battery flash is supposed to start at 10% remaining. So if it has a burn time of 1.5hrs on full, you should expect around 1hr and 20 mins use before the first flash.
Sounds like you have a defective light.
