Just accidentally hit 'high-to-low' price while shopping for pedals and came across these 340quid pedals:

I'm not interested in buying them or anything, just wondered if this is really something that is worth that much money? Or is it just for showboating?
Googling seems to suggest 174g of titanium would cost less than a tenner.
edit: I realise there is r&d to pay for etc.
Do they fall apart any slower than other egg beaters?
The rest of the ti that gets machined off adds up too.
I habeas the top end new mallets (not that price) because they have the better bearings and are easier to rebuild. The more spend the more serviceability I want.
Again price is only a factor when the lifetime is established.
If money is no object and you like eggbeaters...
