i can't remember when i last rode the exmoor explorer but it was back when it was a locally organised event, possibly 20 years ago, 15 at least.

what is it like these days under professional management, still as good, better maybe, or not so?

i havnt ridden my bikes for years so i'm idly looking at events in the south west to motivate me. i always enjoyed the EE but with entry and fuel (i'm in west cornwall) i'm getting on for a £100 bike ride hence the question.

I have done it several times in recent years. It is very well run by enthusiastic, knowledgable people. Dan from Chanel Events does a great job. They also run the Mendip Murmeration and the Quantock Quake as well as running and swimming events in the West Country.

What fatbikedog said - I've ridden most years since 2007'ish.

Still a fun ride and well organised. Friendly folk and a good Tea Stop with Tea, Cake, Jellybeans etc...

I've also ridden the Mendip Murmeration and the Quantock Quake and recommend them too.
