Does anyone ride in stoke woods? or are there any good riding spots close to that area?
Its virtually on my doorstep but dont use it that much. Its ok but limited in that theres not much there. When i have to ride from the door i tend to link up the bridleways around the university and over into pennsylvania, can make up a ten mile loop, more if you have the time and dont mind a bit of road. Where are you riding from?
I am near Thorverton, so a little way out, but Stoke looks like the closest woods to acess.
Have some where I live, but dont make up much distance.
It was about 8 years ago when I rode there but the trails were OK for a hour or so.
Just googled it & found This & This
Post back if you get to ride there as I'm in Exeter about once a month & often go for a ride while the rush hour traffic dies down.
There are a few bits and pieces in there, but it's all a bit steep and brief GNU. .. As above really, you can make y ourself a half decent loop around Exeter with the driveways. A couple that drop into Pinhoe aren't half bad.
Trailseeker thanks I found those websites too and all the informations seems a little old, so was wondering if anyone have more recent experience. I have ridden there before but is was about 4 years ago now.
Was hoping for a nice ride close to home.
Hello!
I live in nr St Daves Station, and last summer spent quite a few midweek evenings up there, climbing up over university, and using the bridle paths. Along with my housemate, we started clearing some of the old trails that had fallen into disuse.
My favourite DH/XC trail there runs from the road junction marked 'stoke post' It runs North West through the private (shhhh!) woods, and exits at the junction signed for the paintball from the main road. Its smooth and fast.
There are lots of other trails, but they are more DH located in the forestry woods. Good fun and lots of easy jumps, but unless you include the nearby bridlepaths, it doesn't justify as an XC ride (well not until I have finished reclaiming all the old!)
Trouble is Stoke Woods is super slippy and glooopy in the wet, so best avoided until it dries up!
If you want a guided tour one evening, happy to show you!
