You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
What an insane looking place to ride. I had headaches from altitude just doing sweet FA in Chile, let alone riding as hard as they do. I have my eye on local (to us) hero Robin Wallner, Zakarias Johanson and of course Katy Winton  in the womens
I should post this on a cycling forum
lol, it's all a bit too much fun for this place! Kind of caught me by surprise but my instagram just exploded with EWS this week.
Looks epic as always, unfortunately not the easiest thing to follow live so will be heading for the highlights later
I don't really get to see any footage but love the Pinkbike write ups and pics.
First day over. Not many surprises.  Katy and Bex doing well.
I know I could look but who does any video coverage? Not red bull that I can see.
ews site and probably lots on pink bike
Such a weird concept racing on mud tyres to cut through the dust!
And we are off
First day over. Not many surprises. Katy and Bex doing well.
Not many surprises! Look at Ratboy and Richie RUDE
Not so sure - are these the EWS Barnechea results:
http://ews.sportident.com/2018/lo-barnechea-montenbaik-enduro/stage1_men_class.html
?
If so: bikes ranking, men, #1 ...#10:
#1 Nukeproof, #2 GT, #3 Ibis, #4 Cube, #5 Rocky Mountain, #6 Cube, #7 Giant, #8 Cannondale, #9 Canyon, #10 Yeti
Sam Hill with Nukeproof is not such an surprise.
Barnechea was maybe one of the extremely difficult EWS races.
Can't find any good youtube coverage or so. Too bad.
Provisional results here...
Katy Winton starting where she left off, and a great 4th place for Bex Baraona!
well my guys did good!
that clip doing the rounds of Sam Hill pinning it...whoa thing of beauty to watch.
Full highlights video up:
Round 2 in Colombia kicking off soon.. preview looks like an interesting mix!
The EWS FB page seems to suggest that the urban prologue (stage 1) will be live on FB and YouTube at 21:00 GMT!
nice "full highlights" video. Thanks!
Live now..
Discussed in an other thread about EWS and YT Enduro racing team.
Found this:
CUBE Action Team at Enduro World Series #1 - Lo Barnechea, Chile
2018 just started - so way too early to say something about these #1 team "rankings".
But appears that the Cube Stereo CF models 2018 are at least "not bad". Or are these bikes no CF Stereo bikes? Prototypes? No idea.
Cube doesn't have a Sam Hill. But these Cube bikers appear very hungry...
Talking about Cube, whats Nico Lau up to now?
And you cant buy the type of advertising for the columbian round. Awesome to see the people taking to it the way they have. An estimated 20,000 people watched Round 1.
yes. Very early in the game.
Start of the "YT" discussion was that we wondered that YT does so extremely well in downhill races (YT Tues, UCI, Aaron Gwin) and that the YT Capra Enduro appears to be nearly out of luck in EWS (is that right?).
And on that track we saw that the Cube team started so well this year (#1 EWS team ranking after first round).
Maybe luck.
But the Capra thing appears to be a bit strange to me.
What's so strange? They have one of the best selling enduro bikes in the world. and don't even need an enduro rider/team to promote it.
If I were in charge of YT's race team/rider budget I wouldn't be in any rush to change anything.
They don't have anyone special promoting whatever sort of riding the Jeffsey's supposed to be for either.
Ill be honest, i think the Canyon team have such a strong chance. Dimitri Tordo, Joe Barnes and Florian Nicolai are absolute weapons. Not many other teams have such strong teams throughout.
Hill crushing all
Do people follow enduro as a team sport then?
Out of the Brits I'd put Ruaridh, Mark and Lew way above Joe at having a genuine crack at a podium position.
I don't care what bikes any of them ride or what team they're on.
Like this discussion.
I'am a trail biker and don't care about any race rankings for my bikes (all low cost and partly old stuff).
But I like how far the bike companies got with the Enduro bikes. Excellent machines. But I don't have the trail for them...
And yes - an Enduro machine is a race machine in my understanding - and for those I follow the races and race rankings a bit. And totally o.k. if Sam Hill "always" wins on his Nukeproof bike. Great guy, great biker and great bike.
I look a bit which guys don't have a team yet and which still do good. Ranking 10 ... 20 in some races. And I think the team rankings are of interest.
And there ... UCI / YT / downhill / Tues / Aaron success is pretty surprising for me when compared with Capra / EWS.
The EWS Enduro races are pretty "downhill heavy". YT is at home in downhill / the YT roots are downhill. Why aren't the do better then?
@geex: with the Jeffsey I agree. Great trail bike. Fun is focus. For a trail bike race rankings don't make sense for me.
But the Capra is a race machine...? Or?
Doubt that YT doesn't care about the Capra races....
Yes the Capra is an Enduro bike. But as a race bike its quite clearly a privateer bike.
There will be no Capra's in the top 50 in EWS (mens) overall.
To do well overall over a full season in any world series you need support.
2017 YT had an official EWS Enduro team.
2017, YT, EWS: Ranking 24 out of 30 ...even behind Fuji bikes... (in the case I read the EWS web page / rankings right)
But no problem for me. Don't own an YT, don't own an Enduro bike.
YT for sure knows how to win races - UCI / downhill / Tues shows that.
Possible of course: YT might have a tight budget - and maybe they focus onto Downhill races - there they were #1 / UCI / 2017 I think.
