Havent finished planning this seasons travelling yet.
Still No Asia or Africa
It's a shame that there haven't been any UK events for a few years now, and won't be for years to come. It does seem like money is the big talker here.
Putting infrastructure to the side for the minute and thinking about venues alone, there are numerous in the UK that would be suitable: Dyfi, Afan (Including off piste stuff), tweedlove obviously, Grizedale, too many others in Scotland to name.
Tracy how are you getting from ainsa to finale in September? I have a place to stay but the logistics of travel are proving a little problematic
We will be in the camper, with Abigale and our other daughter. Will be leaving on the Monday morning, need to sort out the campsite in Finale but not decided yet if we are stopping off to ride elsewhere on the way across
Sounds like a plan. I think there is some sort of forum for sorting out logistics but it seems very quiet. I imagine it will get busier nearer the time.
still no Scotland back on the list
I may be completely wrong but I got the impression the riders weren't particularly impressed with the course the last time it was in the Tweed Valley.
There was one totally shit stage in the last Tweedlove EWS (I mean genuinely one of the worst race stages I've ever done that wasn't at Glenlivet), but it wasn't in there randomly, there were Politics involved. There always is, with the EWS. In the end the stage was dropped from race day but the toys had been chucked already so it all ended up a bit sad I reckon. When it comes right down to it, Tweedlove don't need that sort of bullshit... I mean, I really miss the Tweedlove EWS, it was an amazing event to be part of but the festival's doing better without it.
There are rumbles of other UK organisers wanting to host... There's a couple of places and people that could, I reckon.
Possibly other areas of Scotland,
Dyfihas the potential, but needs development & help from the athertons.
Lakes have the trails but access issues seem to make it very hard to put on decent length stages.
The problem the UK has is the proximity of loads of huge euro venues to compete withw at the moment there are a lot ofnresort towns that can offer a lot there and plenty of world wide competition
Nothing for Ireland or Britain, which is a shame. But hopefully lack of Enduro will benefit DH for the UK. And DH is a proper UCI recognised event.
Given how popular endure is will not having an ews make a huge difference? The lack of care from the uci over the years and bc for mountain biking in general I'd rather see them both stepped back from the uci
First round of the PMBA Enduro at Gisburn forest this weekend. Sold out very quick. The grass roots events are thriving and the EWS have put in some great stuff with the Challengers, Qualifiers, Continentals as well as the World Series. It all looks like it's going from strength to strength without the recognition of the UCI
