Sounds ace, a proper WORLD cup compared to UCI events. Shame no Tweedlove though, I wonder what the reasoning was.
Round 1 - March 26/27 - Valdivia, Chile
Round 2 - April 2/3 - Bariloche, Argentina
Round 3 - May 15 - County Wicklow, Ireland
Round 4 - July 16/17 - La Thuile, Italy
Round 5 - July 30/31 - Aspen Snowmass, USA

I did hear that there was a problem with the funding for the tweedlove EWS round. Looking at the list I wonder if it could still be added, there is a gap there.
I doubt theyll change it now, i think putting on the EWS was a money looser for tweedlove? also people got sulky over stage 6 inclusion by tweedlove
looks like enrico winning tug of war with chris ball? 😉 2 italy rounds
and they love south america, not sure how much team managers will be loving the airfares tho!
Come to think of it, I did hear that too. The post Tweedlove questionnaire if I recall did seem to have a few questions around whether the EWS was your only reason to come to the event, or something like that, I did wonder whether they were trying to justify it.
You're right, there's a gap it could slot in between Ireland & Italy in it's normal May slot though 9 events is a lot.
On the plus side, no EWS means the Tweedlove guys can put on a nice little Tweed Valley series for us normal folk.... Vallelujah in March, the EWS slot in May and then King & Queen of the Hill in August 😀
Sounds as "world" as most years of the DH (though I'll admit this year's DH was a dud- two continents!)- three continents, still no Asian rounds, no African round, no Australasia.
Regardless, they all look good and nice to see them visiting countries not normally seen on the world cycling circuit.
End of speculation, from their FB page.......
"Congratulations to all the venues announced for next year's Enduro World Series calendar. We've been very proud to host it for two years in a row and are now in discussions with public bodies about funding and making sponsorship proposals to the bike industry for the future - we can confirm our intention to do everything we can to bring EWS back to Bike Valley and deliver another world class event very soon."
North America, South America, Europe and Ireland. Seems liek they've covered the main parts of the globe to me.
Got to say I do like the idea that locations change from year to year, I wonder how much that will continue if there is a need to bring in finances to put on a round. Would be great if they could get an Asian round in there.
How come the season is so long next year? Doesn't finish until October whereas this year finished at the beginning of August.
Doesn't finish until October whereas this year finished at the beginning of August.
There are still two rounds to come this year.... Spanish round next month and then finishes in Italy in October.
And yup, the contract for tweedlove was only ever for two years in the first place and very expensive for them to put on, AFAIK
Bonus. For some reason I thought it had finished.
Bugger there goes my plan of Rotorua and peebles next year
La Thuile and Finale for me 🙂
interesteding to compare them to Whistler for the past few years.
Shame not to have an EWS here next year but, you can't expect it every year even leaving aside any other possible reasons, it's nice how they circulate venues. I expect we'll see a massive tweedlove enduro anyway, just without the star quality.
TBH, as much as I've loved EWS, it kind of dominates the week, I used to do tons of tweedlove stuff but for the last 2 years it's been pretty much GT7, rest, practice, EWS, collapse. And obviously it uses a huge amount of Neil and co's time. Shame to lose that big halo effect, your world champs riding with kids and all that but if the same energy that goes to EWS goes into other events it might be better all round...
(I gather that yep it's very expensive but it also brings incredible visibility, I wonder to what extent it could be a viable lossleader... maybe they should run a British Champs instead, just to see what colour Steve Parr goes 😉 )
Shame there´ll be no Spanish round next year. We pretty much knew it already because the Zona Zero round isn´t until after they announce the 2016 rounds so they had to make a decision before they tested it but I had secretly hoped they would take the risk after some of the amazing things Chris Ball said about the riding there. 2017 hopefully! Or maybe we should try and organise a weekend enduro in 2016, trans Zona Zero anyone? (That´s a joke by the way!)
Having ridden at Zona Zero, it's definitely a shame that there isn't a round there two years on the trot. The big descent from the abandoned church on route 9 is probably the best descent I've ever ridden.
