Hello all,

Anyone have experience with the non Pro version of the Evoc Bike bags and XL 29ers? I can’t tell from the description whether the non Pro version will work for 29 frames/wheels.

Bike is long wheelbase Aeris 9 with 2.4 tyres for reference.

Cheers

Hmm, I’ve got the XL one as occasionally travel with Fattie. It’s max 130cm wheelbase, same as Pro. Non-pro is 126cm i believe.

When i travel with my XL Pole evolink, I have to deflate the shock and forks, and even then it’s a fair old squeeze. 134cm wheel base.

Hope helpful

Mate, the pro was a squeeze for my XL Slayer. Ended up dropping air out of the forks and mounting it with them backwards to fit.

Not sure what generation of the 'standard' model as things may have changed over time.  There should be measurements available for the bag and you can then get the tape measure out and check your bike.

I have a standard sized bag which is a few years old.  It fitted my Megatower V2 (Large) which was a bit bigger than the listed max wheelbase size.  I needed to detach my rear mech and it was a proper squeeze (the bike was not in the ideal position) and I slipped bits of cardboard between the frame/forks and bag.  Based on this I'd expect an XL Bird to be a challenge!

EDIT: For the wheels I'd have to deflate the tyres quite a bit to squeeze in (2.4/2.5 x29)

i have an old Evoc bag, so not sure if the newer version of the same bag has changed, but my most recent bike, a size medium Raaw Madonna is a tight fit, to the point that i have to disconnect the shock and rotate the swing arm to fit. It may have fitted if i removed the mech, but its a t-type AXS item, so didnt want the faff.

I have fitted xl trek slash and xl spesh enduros in my evoc bike bag, I have to deflate wider tires a bit to fit then in the wheel compartments. Mine is from 7 or 8 years ago but I don't think it has been updated since. I always remove the rear mech anyway as I see that as possibly easily damaged by rough and ready baggage handling.

Hmmm, certainly sounds like it’ll be a struggle in the non Pro version.

Will probably keep an eye out for something else. Cheers all!

My Nukeproof Mega 290 (size L) just fits in the non pro bag. So an XL of similar chainstay length etc might be a push.

You're more than welcome to give my Pro a go if you're Yorkshire-ish.

Just take the shock off and push the back end up to shorten the bike

Size Large Geometron fits in a standard ten year old Evoc easy like that.

I've got an evoc pro and getting an XL Nicolai G1 29 was a massive pain. Would have been easier to just cut the frame and take tig welder to the Pyrenees
