I'm considering an Evil Following V1 frame next,  any real world experience from owners? I know about the warranty/quality issues of yesteryear and some more recent issues.

Worth going for one or best given a wide berth?  I'm on a Banshee Prime at the moment which is an awesome bike, but half tempted by the Following.

Hi

I have one and absolutely love it.

Probably the best bike I’ve ever had/ridden.

I replaced the Rockshox shock with a Fox Kashima DPS and it’s even better than standard.

Built up as 1x11 XT with King carbon wheels and Fox 36 TALAS forks set at 150/135.

Ride on 135mm most of the time but extend to 150mm for big descents..

Just be careful on size. I’m 6ft and on a large with 800mm bars and 40mm stem. One shop said this was the right size and another said size up to XL I think it’s probably right but sometimes I wonder???

Its not long and low like the current trend but it’s not exactly xc racy either if you know what I mean. It’s just a good all round trail bike.

Ive used it in the Dales, Lakes, trail centres, NYM and it’s excellent everywhere.

Cheers

Steve

Love mine, had it since they first came in & won't be changing it for anything else. I went with an XL @ 6'2", & really don't regret it. The lack of shock choice is annoying but it does mean I can still running a 2x chainset, & I just ended up getting the shock tuned. There were a couple of thread with ppl saying there m8's had managed to break them, but my lbs only ever had one broken one returned (that I know of) caused by the owner running too wide a tyre (the owner had known of the damage being caused & ignored it), Iirc evil offered them a deal on a replacement. Annoyingly Evil have now gone direct sales after Lbs's like him took them on & have done a lot of hard work to improve their rep.

Thanks guys, I'm 6'2" and currently on a 475mm reach with a 30mm stem, so the Following V1 in XL at 457mm might feel a little short.  I've never had the chance to demo one as the only size they had at Ard Rock last year was a medium.

I'd be buying through biketart so that would be my first port of call for warranty I guess, then Evil themselves.

“Its not long and low like the current trend...”

It’s definitely not long, it’s pretty short of reach and wheelbase - but it is low: 338 or 331mm BB height in the stock build.
