The valve hole on my DT Swiss rim is only wide enough for Presta...has anyone drilled the hole out on theirs to make it big enough to take Schrader? Risky or just stick to Presta?
yeh, crack on (forget your warranty though, if that matters)
Yep. Did all mine and switched to presta for all the bikes.
you mean schraeder, right ?Yep. Did all mine and switched to presta for all the bikes.
Yes. But I can't spell schraeder 😳
why would you want schrader valves? stick with the presta, and if you need schrader for compressor, buy an adapter

If the link works there is some info there
Edit: that should have said linky but auto correct thought it was funny to change it
why would you want schrader valves?
More robust, all have removable cores, just as good etc.
Mavic have been drilling slightly bigger holes for years.
i have an ENVE rim thats drilled out,
Poppers?
What can I say other than "Fnarr fnarr"?
A bit do rim hole widening never harmed anyone.
Can be done easily with a fresh round file.
would this still be fine for heavy duty double wall rims - ( two sections of rim material per hole ). Think i'm going to do mine too.
didn't know DT swiss made tractor wheels!
Done it on several different rims with an 8.5mm drill bit followed by a touch of de burring. Should I get myself checked out at the local STD clinic?
The debate on the other thread is similar but the pros for presta is very thin (just like the valve harharhar)

Ever enlarged your rim hole?
Yes after a week in Italy eating only bread based food and very little veg.
My hole now has a more relaxed diameter and is more accommodating for a larger girthed Schrader valve.
Piece of p*ss doing it too and no STDs were harmed in the process 😉
