As above really... Since the quicklinks on 1x10 seem to be non reusable, I'd sooner not take the chain off to wash it, so what cleaner device is good?
Fanks!
those blue jobbies on ebay for a fiver are alright...
(half fill with white spirit, close it over your chain, turn the cranks backwards for about 20 revs, open, and chuck the 'brown' spirit over the fence into your neighbours garden - easy!)
Not the Muc Off one.
I've got a Finish Line one, but tbh I think they're all much the same.
Washing up liquid here. Crazy stuff- it cleans and degreases and so cheap. Who would have thought that?
A couple of old toothbrushes taped together:

brush and hose? The links can be split

rag with some white spirit or bucket/brush/washing up liquid.
KMC power links are reusable, buying some will be cheaper than buying a proper tool. Soaking in White spirit does a much better job too, though I do like the toothbrush idea.
Right I'll definitely go for KMC links next time, not sure what the ones I have at the moment are but they're a bugger to get on.
Gone for one of the cheapy ones off eBay; I know I *can* do it with a rag, but I like making things quicker and easier.
I have a SRAM chain with connectors and they pop open fine with the pliers which can be had for £10, they also do really well on the older ones that have got a bit stuck. Well worth putting a pair in your tool box.
Take the thing off the bike and clean it in a bowl or something. Those cleaners are carp.

The Park one is fairly decent:
Nice feature is that it has a magnet in it that collects a surprising amount of swarf and metallic gunk.
But yeah, for a proper overhaul I take the chain off, wipe it down, degreaser bath, wipe, wash, diesel bath, wipe, lube.
+1 for Park Tools Chain Bath, works a lot better than the £5 jobs I have tried. Get some Weldite Citrus Degreaser too. 😉
Park Tool one here although get the new on - the 5.2.
It has better clasps that hold the 2 halves together - mine have started to fall off
And another vote for the Park jobbie. I use it after most rides.
For a really thorough clean the chain needs to come off though, I put it in an old plastic milk bottle with a couple of inches of white spirit and soak / shake / soake / shake. Works really well.
OP, if you're interested I have a Park Chain Cleaner, like the one above for sale. Drop me an email for some photos. Cheers
I used to have a cheapy one, now have a Barbieri and it's miles better.
Another +1 for the park thingy. Mine has been going for about 5 years now, it doesn't get as much use as it should mind!
Park for me as well. The magnet thingy can be a little scary at some times, when you see how much it picks up!
Already bought a cheapy off eBay, I'll see how that goes for now I reckon.
I'll probably use it twice then revert to not cleaning anything ever anyway.
Connex split link (by far the best out there, I don't know why people pi$$ about with SRAM or KMC ones), cheap ultrasonic cleaner from Aldi, boiling water.
Boiling water dissolves grease, ultrasonic thing jiggles dirt out, heat from boiling water heats chain, hot chain dries itself. Job jobbed.
Connex link if you want to take the chain off. These days I just 'paint' degreaser on with a brush and wash it off a few mins later. Seems to work well and allows you to do the cassette and rings as well
Edit: and to answer the original question ( :-)) I used to use a barbieri one and that seemed to work very well
