You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The Evans Ride It (my first MTB event of 2013) is only a few weeks away, and I'm trying to find details about the route.
Does anyone know this or a previous year's route? Online map, GPS file etc.
Last years route went roughly from the sports centre at Callander, along the bank of Loch Venechar, then up a steepish fireroad heading towards Aberfoyle. It then picks up some good singletrack past Loch Drunkie (I think), and starts heading over towards Loch Achray. It then picks up the well-known Glen Finglas circuit and goes all the way round that, before heading back to Callander via Loch venechar again.
Thanks Kevin, that's great. I know the sports centre, and Glen Finglas, it was just the bit in between I wasn't sure about.
Was it a good day out?
They usually publish the routes with downloadable gps files in the week before the event. I imagine it will be the same route as last year
If you are on garmin connect then do a search for rides from callander on the 31st march last year, should be something there.
It wasn't bad, but not as good as other similar events I've done (e.g. the MErida/CRC Marathon in Selkirk). There really wasn't much of an atmosphere, probably because it's not mass-start. The course itself I thought was ok, but I had hoped for a bit more singletrack and less-well known trails. As it was, there was a lot of fireroad.
Can't complain about the cake at the feed stations though. That was top notch!
Good call Omar, will try that.
Kevin, I did the Selkirk Merida a few years ago and was a great day out. Was kinda hoping for the same thing. I'm guessing that a lot of the nice singletrack up around Loch Venachar is quite delicate, and there would be concerns regarding trail damage, especially if it was a wet day. So not surprised most of it is on fireroads. Luckily I'm doing the longer section with the Finglas loop.
Good point. So there actually is some nice Singletrack around there? I've never really had the chance to explore.
I know one awesome trail, and to be honest I wouldn't want a few hundred riders tearing through it!
