Anyone on here done this before? I drunkenly signed up for it a while ago, and have to say I'm getting a little nervous as it gets closer.

I rode from home to Brighton and back on Sunday which was 113 miles with around 6,500 feet of climbing and although I coped ok, I was pretty knackered afterwards and the last 20 miles were a real drag, so I'm dreading another 2,500 feet of climbing, including some 19-20% climbs chucked in at the end.

Hoping someone has done this before and can re-assure me that it is easier than it looks?...

Did it a few yrs ago. It's not easy sorry, but harder for those who go off too fast in the first 1/2 as it's the last 1/3 or 1/4 that's harder. Just walk up the top bit of York hill and save your legs if needed, that'll make the difference!

That'll be me. Never mind how many times I tell myself to slow down and conserve energy, I find myself doing the complete opposite.

I think that will also be me. 😀

Take your time, it's a fun place to be. Blokes forced off their bikes, all swearing and huffy : )

were you in a group on your other ride? You shouldn't have a problem getting in a group, especially in the first half. Just hide behind someone keen then drop him when he cracks 😈

Nah, I was solo on the Brighton ride. That is a decent game plan. Thanks 😀

I did it last year as part of my preparation for the Marmotte. Okay ride with basically two loops linked by not a very nice bit in between to get round Gatwick airport. The sting is in the tail as others have indicated but I got up everything okay.

I don't know if I would bother to do it again, I think the Wiggle Ups & Downs is a better ride in that area.

I have done both halves separately before and I'm down to do the complete loop but I've missed a shed load of training with a chest infection.
I live in Crawley and it's a bit too tempting to bail before the second loop.
