Bought a pair of shorts in the sale and chose to pick up from local store. This is what I bought in bright blue:

This is what I got:

Despite picking it up from store I had to take it home and now have to post it back to Evans to get a refund as I used paypal.

Eh!? That's not right surely, they supplied the wrong good = their problem.

I always put my friends/colleagues/fellow riders of using Evans.

Every time I see someone in blue shorts, I think it must be Andy Barlow. Always a huge shock to discover there's more than one person who thought it was a good idea!

Did you order swimming shorts and instead received cycle shorts?

Are you one of those 'core/scott goggle wearing riders'? 😆

Taken from Evans Website:

'We are unable to process PayPal refunds in store (with exception of Store Collect orders).'

So why can't I take them back to the store since it is a Store Collect order.

The second ones are less bad than the first ones, so where's the complaint?

I'd have given him a choice:
1_ give me a refund
2_ eat the shorts

I'm guessing that the warehouse staff were blinded by the original shorts and are now packing these purely by touch

Every time I see someone in blue shorts, I think it must be Andy Barlow

...as opposed to Deidre?

[mogrips - or attentive customer service/someone surfing STW while at work. Take your pick ]

Pretty good and responsive customer services, I'd say. (And yes, that is me defending Evans, by the way!)

There is a very subtle but nevertheless significant difference here.
Mounting bikers shorts or Mountain biker's shorts.

Why?

Customer services got back to me saying they have forwarded it onto another part of customer services! Time to post back, get a refund and remember the lesson I learnt - which is apparently not to wear blue shorts. 🙄

Many customer service departments register on forums / facebook / twitter etc. just to pick up on this kinda thing (the people I work for have a dedicated team just for that)

Good thing if it gets the problem resolved.

More time wasted emailing them if it doesn't however

Staff from boutique MTB brands/ manufacturers post on here defending their service/ products; great attentive customer service.

Staff from large cycling chain post on here defending their service/ products; big brother is watching.

Hmmm.

Yes, but the if it was sorted properly there would not be the need to defend it in the first place 😉

However,

'I was just riding my second hand 10 year bike along and it vapourized and X company won't give me a new one free so they're crap'

threads aren't included in that 😀

I bought something off the evans website using paypal, decided I didn't like the item so took back to the Trafford shop. They took it but said it would be a few days as they'd need HQ to do the paypal refund. All worked pretty well to my surprise.

My fork purchase from them however was a real PITA!

Colleage at work just bought a Fuji road bike. Found the rivnuts for the bottle cages were faulty. After faffing with it, it was decided it needed a replacement frame. He had done 20 miles on it. They made him an offer of a better bike as long as he paid for it. So he bought a better bike, albeit £1000 rather than £800 for the first bike. Got it home, to find the paint chiselled off behind the brake cable on the seat tube, badly touched ( botched in) . He really cant be bothered now, he just wanted to buy and ride his bike. This is Reading branch in the last 2 weeks. Doesnt inspire me to buy one from there.
