You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all.
Hope you had a good one and your head isn't as sore as mine this morning.
Quick question. Have some money to spend and happen to be in the east today on some shiny things.
Which is the better (stocked) store. Crawley or Gatwick?
Gatwick is where the Evans warehouse is, so there might be more sale bargains in the Gatwick store.
I'd go to Gatwick if i were you. They are always guite helpful in my experience, i believe all the stock is shipped out from there. If its not on show just give them the stock number and they get it from the warehouse for you to look at/try on, takes a few minutes but theres plenty to look at while waiting . Thinking about it this has caused me to spend quite a bit there in the last few years.
Gatwick.
But if you in Crawley/gatwick area and want shiney shiney try Freeborn.
+1 Gatwick.
Freeborn are more niche and hands-on but quite pricey at times. Good people when you get to know them too.
Heading up there on Sat, any directions for the gatwick store please?
Not got a sat nav and couldn't work out the best way to get to it from the M23.
Thanks
I wouldn,t bother with the Gatwick store as the service is appalling.
You will be in there for at least 1 hr just for 1 tube.
Walked out last time as I was kept waiting for over 45 mins to be told that the item was out of stock. 😡
Gatwick is the main warehouse so works a bit like argos but slower. Anything that is showing as in stock can be brought down from the warehouse, if it's a bike they need a bit of time to build it and church it before a test ride so best to ring them (they probably won't answer buts is with try). If getting something from the warehouse get the order in before having a browse to fill in the average 10 minute wait, ive been waiting upto an hour on a rare occasion. The staff are largely helpful and knowledgeable, you get the occasional youngster that I'm sure knows all there is about BMx or jump bikes but is less knowledgeable on the finer points of the esoteric headset standards.
Also they'll price match most of the main online stores, take a print out with you as mobile reception in store is abysmal.
They use the Crawley store for offloading some of the shop soild bikes. I think there was a list on the website recently.
Got to go to the airport so thought I'd pop in as it's nearby if anyone can point me in the right direction?
Evans Cycles Gatwick Warehouse
Camino Park, James Watt Way, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 9TZ ?
Basically, just to the south of the airport, just off the A23. Shop has plenty of parking.
From the M23:
Take the Crawley Exit (J10) and head towards Crawley
1st roundabout - 4th exit
2nd roundabout - 2nd exit
3rd roundabout - 2nd exit
4th roundabout - 1st exit and it's on your left.
spot on marc cheers
Round the corner after the roundabout, the first set of evans labeled offices are head office. There is a height restriction on the entrance to the carpark but plenty of parking on the street. Watch out for post office lorries caning it.
It's a good shop with a the warehouse so you can have 99% of the items in a handful of minutes. Yes, sometimes the wait is a while, but if any of of you had any idea of the scale of the warehouse (over 300,000 items) then I'm sure you wouldn't be so quick to slate.
They're a good bunch of guys and usually knowledgeable. But remember, no one knows everything
