If anyone is after a turbo it's worth contacting your local Evans. Their website doesn't show the majority of stock. I just went to pick up a Jet Black Volt I'd ordered and found they had the Tacx Flux 2 (my first choice) in stock so I exchanged it. Happy days

Evans are about to go through a big re-image. The Gatwick showroom closes at the end of the month. Lots of staff have walked out. Mike Ashley wants to ditch high end bikes and make it more like Halfords. And also try and move it to the high street, so he can have sports direct, evans and Game all under one roof. all this from a rather disappointed employee.

When i popped into the gatwick store they had plenty of bikes on the shop floor which didn't show up online.

I know they sometimes arent the best, but it will be a shame to see them downgrade even further.

I'm sure everyone is waiting for the next Lonsdale slip on flat pedal shoes and Dunlop FS range.  Noticed that our local House of Fraser gradually turned into an extension of Sports Direct before it finally shut its doors.  It's a shame all the semi decent bike store chains have/are closing. Fingers crossed it leaves space for decent LBS.

I went to Evans in Bham before xmas, a mate was looking for a new Trek. It was disappointing compares to pre SD days. Staff werent interested, located in the lower floors of H of F. I wont bother again.

I've supported Evans over the last few years, but recent experience with them means I've given them my last £ already.

Going to support my LBS much more now.

Yes. Our cycle to work scheme is with Evans and I've used it to buy components in the past.

Looking this year it's really noticeable the amount of sports direct "stuff" on the website and the lack of decent components, wheels, etc

I tried my LBS for a turbo as an old school mate owns it, but they had no stock, couldn't get Tacx and the next available stock of Elite turbos was July or August. Evans just happened to have something available

we have a game/usc/sports direct/evans megastore in S****horpe of all places, 2/3 of the stores are in separate units, but within the same 1 building structure, so probably came as a 1 price deal

I haven't managed to break my warranty-replacement Flux2; mainly because it hasn't turned up yet, but you take your victories where you can.....
