I'm trying to change the chainring on my cranks. They are the 2019 carbon ones. I undid the 8mm driveside allenkey but crank arm won't come off, is it just stuck on or am I supposed to be doing something else. Any help greatly appreciated.
E13 have a really good support side to their website which will tell you everything you need to know.
Yeah, their site is very good and the instructions are pretty clear, i just didnt get the expected outcome. I was wondering if anyone else found it hard to get the crank arm off after loosening the 8mm Allen key head.
The 8mm (inside) bolt is used as self extracting crank arm bolt, don't mess with the 10mm bolt.
Just keep on turning the 8mm, it will get loose then tight again as it begins to remove the crank arm from the spindle.

These are self extracting cranks. The 10mm hex interface should not be tampered with.
The crank is press fit onto the spindle using 40-48 Nm force. This means that considerable force will need to be used when loosening the bolt of the self-extracting system. This is normal.
Using the 8mm hex key turn counter-clockwise until the bolt is fully loose.
Once the 8mm hex bolt is fully loose the drive side crank arm can be removed.
To remove the non-drive side crank arm you may need to lightly tap the spindle with a rubber mallet
Sorted. Great. Thanks both 🙂
Sorry to hijack the thread Garlando...but where did you manage to find the tool to remove the chainring from the spider!? I’ve been looking intermittently for a while but struggling!
Hi Kipling, I got lucky on eBay! But a couple of the German webshops have them in stock.
👌 perfect, thanks!
Dredge / can I resurrect this with a follow on Q?
In a similar position, got my e thirteen cranks off and trying to remove the chainring / lockring using the e thirteen tool... Is there a trick to it, or is it just brute force??
In my experience brute force.
As an aside, just had to Dremel the bearing casing off the crank axle, grease them up before you put them back in.
