You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've been using eTap for about 15 months and just recently changed the cassette and chain. I'm now getting very slow down shifts (to bigger cog / ie lower gear). Up shifts are fine.
Its quite frustrating - anyone got any advice/ tips to sort this out please? Could it be the B-tension?
According to the manual (Â
, page 29), there should be a 6-8mm gap between largest sprocket and the top jockey with no chain, and 4-6 with the chain on (page 36).
Chain was cut to the same length as the one before? Shouldn't affect the top jockey clearance as it would on other road systems, but it's worth checking.
Thanks for that, I'd changed from a 11/28 to a 11/32 so I think that the B-tension might well be the answer. I'll give it a try.
Don't you need the WiFli mech to be able to use an 11-32.?
Not that familiar with SRAM road stuff so I might be mistaken..
Yes, that is correct, fortunately I have WiFli already. When I built my bike up I preferred to have a smaller block, but I have been doing some climby riding more recently and found the 28 a tiny bit high for doing multiple loaded days of 3-4000m of climbing.
Ahh well that's good then.. good that i was right (yea me!!) and good that you already thought of that.! On the other hand it doesn't really help with your problem but that's surely in the grand STW tradition of providing contrary advice and opinions that don't really answer the OP's question.. (yea me again.?) 🙂

Not sure why I've gotten random formatting in my previous post...
I've solved it by replacing the cassette with a Red XG1190 11/32. Life is now good, if somewhat less wealthy.
