My bro and old man live out in Estepona, a lively town in Malaga. I've been meaning to get out there and visit, but obviously want to know what the riding is like first!
I know Sierra Bermeja is about 30 mins away, but not sure if that's up to much. Also the Sierra Nevada is only 1hr 20 away so would love some tips on good day trip routes?
Basically, looking for some nice routes with plenty of good DH. In my head - a day long enduro 😀
I've got accomodation sorted, but recommendations of day guides, anything else would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Its awesome out there, we went for a long weekend in october.
You got the cable car out of benalmedina for some lift assisted riding, which is worth doing for a day.
Theres a couple of routes down from the antenna's on the hill next to the one that the cable car goes up, but its a hell of a climb, you'd be better off driving up and leaving a car at the top and bottom. But the descent is well worth it.
Switchbacks AM operate from a small village in the sierra nevada, and they offer guided all day rides with a van to get the worst of the climbing out of the way, having sai dthat we still did 3000 feet of climbing in a day on the bikes even with the van to take care of the biggger climbs.
If you're only going to get one day, then probably best to get a guide and switchback seem pretty decent, some excellent routes.
Thanks Julians!

Are you referring to Sierra Bermeja there?
no, not sure what its called, but I dont think its part of the sierra bermeja. If you look on google earth/maps , its the hills directly north of benalmedina immediately on the other side of the motorway to benalmedina.
We´re probably the nearest company to you, based in Fuengirola 30 mins from Estepona.
You´d be welcome to join us on one of our Enduro days with uplift.
Any idea when you would be over?
