I've just acquired a new road frame and am in the process of switching the parts over from the old frame. The drivetrain is worn out, so I am thinking of changing to 11 speed at the same time.
What are the essentials? Chain, shifters, cassette, do I need a new rear mech and chainrings?
The wheels will be new, so the hub will be 11 speed compatible.
Thanks
Matt
What manufacturer?
Pretty much everything on your list, if the old drivetrain is worn better to start from scratch. Decent deals on full groupset can normally be had.
Shifters, chain, cassette, front mech, rear mech (if Shimano) and possibly new rear wheel or freehub.
Rear mech add to list, otherwise that's all you actually need if moving from 10sp.
The old crank will work if the ring is good. New rings are always a good idea but not strictly needed if the originals are fine.
As above, buying so many bits together a groupset deal may well be the best value.
I hadn't thought about getting a full groupset, I'll see what's out there.
