As a longterm hand pain sufferer and grip faffer, these seem interesting. Anyone use them? Any good for hand pain?
Yep they are 100% awesome. I'll never go back to rubber grips. The only drawback is they get a bit grubby so aviod touching them with oiled hands.
re hand pain, i dont suffer from it so i cant comment but they seem to give less callousses.
Superb grips, as for oil and hands, but some black ones. Just buy them you will love them. You can get a "chunky" version as well, but I have never tried them.
I have the same issues as you, I find using them with no gloves better but with or without gloves find my hands ache still, its a different ache though usually my hands feel like they've had a beating where as with these they feel tired, I'm using a powerball this year to see if my hands improve
I use the chunky ones but think I'll try the normal ones
+1
Best grips out there.
Cheers for the tips guys, might have to give these a go (currently have 2 bikes and ~10 different sets of grips, only a couple of which have been used on more than a dozen rides due to numb fingers and sore palms).
How do you guys attach them? Compressed air, meths or window cleaner?
I used hairspray (not mine) - went on pi55 easy. Rode next day and they haven't moved since in 3 months (live in wet NW)
Buy them -you wont regret it
Installation
Clean handle bars. Press in End Caps. Using Rubbing Alcohol or Window Cleaner clean inside of ESI MTB grips, wet bar and inside of grip, slide onto bar. Rotate grip to have the Thicker side towards palm. Let dry for 24 hours.
Removal
Slide a screw driver with a dulled point (or something similar) under grip (careful not to scratch bar or stretch grip), squirt Rubbing Alcohol, Window cleaner or water under grip, twist grip off bar. Clean inside of grip with Rubbing Alcohol or Window cleaner and reinstall. If you have access to a compressor just blow them off.

I've just changed to ESI chunky's - after a lot of hand and little finger pain on long descents.
Love them!
I used alcohol gel (hand sanitiser) - worked a charm! gotta get them on quick before it evaporates but once it does and they are on - no slippage - even in all the rain recently!

Fitted a set of Racer's Edge on Saturday, have ridden on them once, and I'm a convert. At the risk of sounding like a bike journo, they really do cut down on 'trail buzz', as opposed to the ODI (not lock-on) grips they replaced, which just provided... erm... grip.
As soon as the grips wear out on my other bike, I'll be replacing them with ESI grips, probably the chunky ones for that bike.
They're a bugger to fit, mind, although you'll probably make a better job of it if you've not consumed two bottles of wine beforehand.
Worth every penny converted from lizard skin peaty lock ons used to get numbness near edge of my hand even with specialized bg gel gloves. First ride felt the diffirence right away no pain no numbness very happy person ! 🙂
How chunky are the chunky version? I'm used to sunline thicks and odi rogues.
The chunky ones aren't massively thick. I've got small hands and use them. Not used the Racers Edge ones as I wanted the extra comfort of the chunky's.
They do mark easily but that doesn't bother me. The only real downside is they get chunks taken out of them when you crash 😳
Would echo all the the comments above, they do get a bit bashed/chunks can disappear in a crash and do mark a bit.
But they are easy to get on with window cleaner, stay put no matter how wet they get and are comfortable. Have only used the racer edge ones but imagine the chunky ones are just as good. I really don't see, unless you need to swap things about often or need ergo style grip why anyone uses anything else, aside from they are harder to get hold of than most. Of course it's down to personal preference, but a grip that's comfortable and doesn't move, with out having annoying (painful) metal bits on the side if pretty good in my book!
Is anyone able to relate the diameter of the chunky version ?
can i just recommend http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/ i have ordered 2 sets from them both times they have turned up next day. they seem to have most in stock for same day dispatch where some are a 2-4 day wait.
outside diameter when fitted to bar is around 34mm
