creaky Thomson gets on my tits with its constant creaking.
looking to replace with something -15/-20 setback and always liked the look of the Ergon/ canyon posts.
are they any good?
Do you mean the leaf-spring alike posts? Had two. Both working fine still including for bikepacking with tail bag.
I've got the older Canyon VCLS post (pre leaf spring, just a carbon/basalt post), it does what it says on the tin so I imagine the newer version is even better.
I've got one, it's great. Proper comfy. Not totally fit andforget as you have to remember it's undamped, so you do still have to train your arse to react accordingly!
Do you have to remove the post to loosen the bottom bolt holding the two pieces together in order to adjust the seat angle so they slide past each other? Thats what stopped me buying one from looking at them on t'internet. Does it work easier? Does the seatpost clamp hold the two leaves together when tightened?
Yup, as you suspect, you have to remove the post and adjust with the bolt on the post. It's a bit of a pain but it's not something I do very often, so no big deal IMHO.
Clearly the split post works, but how much exposed seatpost do you guys have ?
i plan on using it with a pickenflick which has quite a long seattube so only about 7/8 inches of post showing for my 175mm seat height.
