I've had my BD2 backback for about 18 months now, and have still to really get to grips with the fitting of it. I find it transfers weight off the shoulders/back onto the hips/pelvic cradle extremely well (which it is designed to do), however I also find it is *very* prone to revolving/rotating around the waist, almost always to my left. Has anyone else come across this?

Between the back sizing adjustment (I'm 6'1" and have it on the middle of three, the semi-normal shoulder strap adjustment, the waist strap front adjustment and the waist strap rear adjustment I don't seem to ever get it working right.

I don't have it hugely loaded up, typical contents

3l bladder with 2-2.5l fluid in
Toolkit/spare parts (pobably 2 lb/1kg)
First Aid kit (1lb/500g)
Combined shock and tyre pump (1lb/500g)
Various ancillary extras (1lb/500g)

So all in (not including the pack itself) may be 10lb/5kg. This issue is a real disappointment because, as mentioned above, it's ability to make weight disappear is quite incredible.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Chris

Hi,

I had the same problem with mine and i am 6' 1" too. it used to swing all around and really annoy me.

Simple fix for me, I put it in the bottom hole (bag at it's longest) and it's now perfect. fully rigid riding down cwncawrn and not a jot of movement side to side.... I think it seems ok in the middile but once you are in the riding position, your arch your back lifting it off your hips.

Try it!

I will, thanks for the tip! It's true that the pack is clearly very carefully designed for riding; I had an initial idea that I could use it for a light day pack walking - that didn't last long out of the car park!

Yep it's most certainly a riding bag! mine did the trans wales and held up very well, that was in 2008 so still going strong! will be difficult to decide if i replace it when it dies or to get a wingnut.....

chris. I had the same problem - very annoying, I was forever pushing it back into place. I tried every adjustment I could. Some improvement, but never felt right, I was always aware of it. In the end I sold it. It might be to do with body shape as well? I'm a skinny 6 foot.

Mine used to do that, try putting it on as normal but before you do the waist strap up hunch your shoulders up and while your hunching then do the strap up! Works for me.
