You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've got a 2011 Epic Elite, which comes with some SID SLs, which as of today has developed a very annoying, and loud creaking noise, which appeared to be coming from the forks more than the frame (flexing lowers/uppers?), but it's difficult to say whilst being on the bike.
When i got back i took the forks out, cleaned the bearings, outer races and so on, as well as greasing all the bolts, and tightening up everything, but the noise is still there, is this a case of the forks or frame being an issue, the forks are the tapered 1.5" to 1.125", and the headset being the loose bearings that fit into the frame, so aren't an interference fit.
Impossible to say without seeing it.
Yeah, unfortunately seeing it doesn't really throw up much of a reason why it's doing it, but just wondering if others have had issues with 2011 SIDs or Epics?
I'm considering getting an epic and read a review recently where the tester experienced a loud/disconcerting creaking from the rear of the bike. Think it was related to the short shock linkage but would need to find the review for any more info. If I come across it I'll post a link up.
Also read that the wheel bearings don't last very long, don't suppose it's related to a hub? Perhaps worth a look.
Thought it would have sealed headset bearing. If your seeing loose balls sounds like the bearing has come apart
Edit might have miss read your post a little.
