So...i managed to pinch flat a Double Down casing Minion DHR II last week, unfortunately i also damaged the tubeless tape install so air is now leaking from the valve stem.
Running Enve AM30s and Enve say to only use their own tubeless tape (surprise surprise) as its cut to the correct width for the rim and I'll burst into flames (or my rims will explode) if i don't use it....
I'd just buy the Enve tape, but cannot find a stockist that will send out to me (I'm in Dublin) and as far as i can see from using my Google powers no one really stocks just the tape on its own.
As far as i can see the tape is 33.5mm wide, i can get Stans in 33mm - will 0.5mm really make much of a difference?
No, it won't make a difference. You'll probably wander more than half a mm fitting the tape.
Make sure the rim is very clean and is at room temperature before fitting if using stans - I've had problems fitting in cold garages due to condensation. Now I just use gorilla tape.
Loads of people will recommend Gorilla Tape, which is fine, because it works, but please for the love of God put a run of electrical tape down first. Just to stop the Gorilla spadge from welding itself to your rim forever.
Or you could just use several wraps of electrical tape. I’ve used both that and Gorilla tape and both work fine (it’s just GT is stickier)
I thought Enve just used Gorilla tape that they had cut to the right size. At least that’s what they used to supply when they started out.
