Hey guys, has anyone got any experience of either the SES 4.5 or 6.7 wheels? I haven't had aero wheels before, but I'm just about ready to take the plunge and can't decide between these two.
My heart wants 4.5s with CK hubs, but the 6.7s with DTs can be had for about 2/3 the price... I know they will be heavier, worse in cross-winds and a harsher ride, but they get amazing reviews. First-world problems huh? 🙄

My Cannondale came with the SES 3.4 tubular wheels and CK hubs, 17 months ago, they've been faultless and so good I keep considering getting a deeper set for TT's. If I wanted an all-round set I would think the 4.5's would be perfect, but really depends what your riding terrain & weather is like.

ive got 4.5 discs after coming from 65 classics when i replaced my supersix for a defy

i much prefer the look of the 4.5s having done the deeper stuff, make more sense for riding anywhere lumpy to, so unless your riding is crits or mostly flat stuff where you need the aero advantage id go with the 4.5s

are they not all being discounted at the moment because the older ones are not tubeless compatible?

What's your intended usage - what kind of racing do you target?

Personally, I ride a set of 45/55mm wheels, and they handle better than the 30mm kinlin rims I had before. I can't imagine 6.7s being a massive problem unless you're a flyweight. I do think that the 4.5s would be a far more versatile set.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I live in Kansas which is super flat, but does have more than its fair share of wind. I don't race, but there are endless straights, so almost all of the time you're on the drops in top gear. A lot of guys out here just have tt bikes, but I love my Madone, and want to be able to go to the Rockies every once in a while. The 4.5s probably seem like the sensible way to go, especially seeing as they have the new improved braking surface...
