I have a Marin quake 7.3 and have been working really hard at improving my downhill/freeride riding and i want to have a go at an enduro. I would do it on my Quake but one of the local events are quite particular with downhill bikes, i did intend to change my bike in probably about 12 months but im wondering if i should change it now.
Quake has been a great servant and its not bad to climb, descending is great!
I'm sure the quake would be fine. Enduro is just riding your bike like you do normally.
Yeah, I've never heard of an enduro having a problem with any type of bikes- it'll not be the most ideal but unless you're in it to win it, really who cares? Only thing I suppose is that some have strict "liaison" times ie while you're not timed for the climbs/connections, you've got to be at each by a set time. That'll be harder to do on a really big bike.
But otherwise, enduro is the sport of the have-a-go 😉 I've seen folks on downhill bikes and folks on skinny xc bikes, and I can tell you which I'd rather be...
I didn't think enduros specified what bike you can use? Which event is it. If your're fast, you're fast on any bike I reckon
i've got a quake 7.3. That's not a downhill bike, it even has less travel than a Capra!
Of course, if you have big triple clamp 203mm forks on it, then it's more understandable to bar entry. Still, i doubt that it would be an advantage.

Bikes
An all mountain bike is ideal for these races but any mountain bike is allowed
•hardtail,
•short travel,
•long travel,
•29”
•a downhill bike but not recommended with the riding in-between transfer stages.
•Only one Bicycle can be used during an event, including any transition stages.
•Competitors must start and finish the competition on the same frame, fork and wheels
The Quake is staying with me for a little longer 🙂
