You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
hey guys.
I said I wanted to give this enduro hype a go this year. Only problem is I have no idea where or how to go about finding what races I can enter. Where the races are or how to enter. I've looked online but can only find one or 2 that seem pro/semi pro
I've never raced before I just fancy pushing my self and seeing what it's like to race. Any tips/sites or races you know of would be a great help.
Cheers!
Where abouts do you live? and how far are you willing to drive?
I spot most things over on facebook through friends or difeeerent riding venues posting up events

These seem to get good write ups.Relaxed atmosphere, good courses and free beer (well there was when I did one).
For a start, I would have a look at the One Industries mini enduro series. It's a more relaxed vibe than some other events, a good place to start racing. Linkeage
i live in sheffield jim. i normally ride peaks, sherwood, cannock and also a few of the evans rides and do wales weekenders a couple of times a year. but normally the most i travel for a day is about 2 1/2 hours maybe 3max. but obv that makes it a long day.
Thanks for them links guys, ill be having a look through them at work tomorrow!
Oh well the Enduro Lite option in the SES this year is probably too far for you to travel, plus it's a whole weekend.
if you are in sheffield the pmba enduro at gisburn in march is fairly close. it is fairly chilled compared to so.e of the bigger races
Ukge obviously
Actually I jest, red kite as said are very good. Big climbing though, so depends what you expect from enduro. (All from good friends reviews, I haven't done one of their enduros)
The PMBA one looks up my street, nice 1 day format of around 30 miles. the redkite looks alright too might mean getting an overnight stay as some of them are 4hours away!
just seen they havn't set one up yet for this year! ill keep a look out for it though
NDH Hamsterley Enduro is on 15th Feb, laid back event but it does use some of the descend bike park tracks, so it depends on what sort of riding do you do?
I did my first race there last year, expected red grade stages but was a bit surprised to see we were on the DH stuff for 2 of the 3 stages.
It was wet and once 300 riders practise all morning it was quite churned up. Good fun though, even though I hadn't really had much practise on that sort of stuff!
i ride a mixture of XC/the natural downhills of the peaks and also trail centres. ive got a zesty 314 2013, so it can hold its own on all but the big big DH stuff (same as me i suppose, but ive never had a big DH rig or been on big DH runs)
thanks for the link ill have a look into it!
If you do intend to go along to the NDH enduro races, or pop up for one of the SES stages - I'd recommend doing an uplift day, or a day of riding the DH trails, just so you have a better idea of what to expect, and you'll enjoy it more - as you know you can ride it.
There's a big disparity between the enduros, as it does covera wide base of events. Plus some aren't what is now becoming well known as enduro - i.e. multi stage racing. Some are like the original Dyfi enduro, which is just a long XC race.
There's nothing wrong with that, but it's something to bare in mind, as if you did some of the southern enduros and came to do the SES at Fort Bill, or Kinlochleven, you'd be in for a surprise.
The UKGE..... I can't recommend that for a newbie, as you need a fullfacer, and ned to buy insurance. So, say 60 for a helmet, 100 for insurance, 50 for the race, and 30 for petrol costs. That's a lot of money to out a single race.
Most other enduros wont have those constraints.
So, in summary - find where you fancy doing a race, go a ride around there with some mates to scope it out, enter it, enjoy 🙂
