I'm currently contemplating a new build with a 150-160mm travel frame, so I suppose that means #enduro 😛
I've set the budget for the frame at £1500 so have identified three options (all 2016 models) - Transition Patrol, Nukeproof Mega 275 and Vitus Sommet Pro. Also remember seeing the Vitus Sommet Carbon being shown at the cycle show back in November, so thats another potential option depending on frame price. The geometry of these three all look pretty comparable, so as far as I can tell (without riding any yet) the main differences are looks, price and build quality potentially.
Any particular reasons why one of these would be best over the others? I'm leaning towards the Patrol but it is the priciest. The carbon Sommet looked great in the metal/plastic but no idea on frame price for that yet. My intended use for the bike will be trail centres, BPW, dabbling in DH and maybe an Alps trip at some point. I've got a short-travel trail bike for local stuff, this isn't intended to replace it but I would like the new one to be a decent pedaller as well.
I had a patrol on order until they started to run late with deliveries and I got offered a spec enduro s-works (2015) for £1600...an offer I couldnt refuse.
Have a hunt around for 2015 frames as there are some excellent deals out there, but if I had to go with any of the above I would go for the patrol.
No need to wait on a Patrol, they are in stock and ready to ship 😀
We have a few sizes and colours ready to go (for once)... If you can get near Edinburgh we also have a demo bike so you could find out how good they are for yourself.
Sure we could find a way to get under budget for you as well.

Spend half of the budget on a Codeine?
Starling with a storia shock - roughly £1400
Starling with a CC - roughly £1300
You could also look at a Banshee Rune 27.5 or a Banshee Prime 29er. Both great bikes.
TBH if you have £1500 to spend on a frame there's a huge amount of options.
Out of curiosity....what size are you after?
id find it hard to see past a patrol.
Its hard to choose a frame of this type, you are spoilt for choice at that price point.
Of those 3 I'd go for the nukeproof, for no other reason than I think it looks the best.
Loads of other frames are available at that price, if you're open to expanding your options, I would go for (and did) an Orbea Rallon.
Interesting, thanks for the replies.
Cotic Rocket - I've only ruled it out because of looks TBH, just not a fan of skinny steel tubing. I'm sure its a great bike.
Codeine - not keen on an On-One frame really, quality concerns me.
Banshees - I like them, again its just a looks thing really why I didn't put them in. Also read they are fairly heavy but haven't compared the numbers, might have to do that next.
Not considered an Orbea, I'll take a look.
pigyn - I'm in the Midlands so quite far from Edinburgh to come have a look, in fact I can't find a dealer less than an hour away really anyway.
Its a large I'd be after wrecker.
Bird Aeris plus change.
I've just taken the plunge on an airdrop edit. New guy from Sheffield. Take a look
Drop me a mail anyway Mark, I may have something which will interest you.
The rallon is superb, but over budget. Always liked the look of the Rose Uncle Jimbo. Also, there are bronsons for £1000 alloy or £1600 carbon in medium. Very good pedalling frame.
Also worth a look at the gt sanction and the giant reign...both very good
The rallon is superb, but over budget
No,its not. The op has £1500 for a frame, the rallon is £1300 for the version with yhe fox shock or £1600 with the bos kirk
Doh, I was thinking the old X30 full bike price! I'd not bother with the BOS if I bought one again, I am using a temporary ancient manitou shock I've borrowed from a mate and it still feels amazing! (my Kirk is in France to get the lever replaced, though they've just emailed me to say I should contact Jungle again even though BOS have the shock, I'm confused).
Have you considered a Mondraker Dune?

Amazing frame, lifetime warranty and the frame comes with a headset and stem.
In true STW style, Commencal meta V4, love mine and under budget.
The Dune is lovely, might be worth adding to the list. Just a bit pricey as I haven't seen it for less than £1600. Similar for the GT Sanction, plus that seems a bit too DH-focused for what I'm after.
The Airdrop looks cool, however no stealth routing for the dropper post rules it out for me unfortunately. Shame.
I'd not considered the Commencal Meta either, just reading up on it and it sounds brilliant plus good price from their direct sales site. Whats the warranty like with them? Sales experience any good?
The press-fit BB puts me off a bit if I'm honest, also if I'm nitpicking it has a longer top tube but shorter reach than the Patrol due to the slacker seat tube. Suppose without riding either it's hard to say which would be best for me 😐
Not really looked into the warranty, but the purchase was a simple affair. The sizing worked out well for me, I have long legs and short body, so the large gives me decent reach and the tt is nice and low, so good standover. Pedals really well and the BOS shock only gives up travel when needed, but still plush on big stuff.
The press fit BB was a concern at first, but it was easy to install and no issues so far. It seems much easier to get in the air than my previous Mega AM275.
I was looking in a similar bracket and bought this in the end. 10% off with BC discount - obvs has to be the right size for you but the deal was too much to refuse. I know mates who have them and love them too so this made the choice easier:

Banshee's are on par weight wise with any other Alu bike. For "Enduro" i really don't see the fascination in having a "MUST" 150-160mm, why not have a bike that uses the suspension well. The Banshee Spitfire is very capable and about 1/4 pound lighter than the Rune i think.
